Male and Female Actors, Singers, and Dancers

Preparation
Prepare two contrasting monologues and for singers an optional 16 bars of a song, (accompanist will be provided on both days). Equity Actor’s audition should be no longer than 4 minutes in length. Please bring two headshots w/resumes.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (4 Men, 4 Women)

Seymour Krelborn: An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills.

Audrey: Bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor

Mr. Mushnik: The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative.

Orin Scrivello: An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour

Voice Of The Plant: An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best

Crystal: Crystal, Ronnette and Chiffon are African-American street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, hip, and smart, these girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality.

Actor 1:
John Jacob Astor: (40’s) ambitious, sophisticated, wealthy, energetic. The mastermind behind the enterprise. He is a German immigrant, so likely has a slight accent.
Jacques Robinson: Crusty, older Voyageur: earthy, fun-loving, loquacious, grizzled (40’s) weather-beaten fur trapper in the wilds of the West; he was in the Wilderness before almost anyone else, so he’s seen a lot. Has a huge on his head from being scalped by the Blackfeet.

Actor 2 – Donald MacKenzie - CAST

Actor 3:
Captain Thorn: (30’s) American Naval Hero; tough as nails, and utterly ruthless in moving toward the accomplishment of his goal. Steeped in the discipline of the Navy, he is brutal to those who veer outside the lines.
Joseph: French Canadian Voyageur: impatient, pushy and a bit grumpy

Actor 4:
Duncan McDougall: (30-40) Canadian Scottish Fur Trapper; the leader of the expedition The Tonquin. He is blunt, pushy, demanding and loves a good fight. Likely has a mild Scots accent.
Clappine: (25-40) French Canadian Voyageur: sunny, good-humored, respectful, well-liked. Sings.

Actor 5:
Anthony McKay: (35) Canadian Scottish Fur Trapper. Knowledgable, rugged, but reasonable. Mild Scots accent.
John Colter: (35-45) Legendary fur trapper on the Missouri River. A wilderness man. Outran 600 Blackfeet Indian and saved his hide. Rugged. American.
Manuel Lisa: (35-40) Bombastic, pushy and morally questionable leader of his own Trapping expedition up the Missouri. American.

Actor 6:
Ross: (29) Clerk (accountant) aboard the Tonquin. American, well-educated: new to the whole ‘explorer thing'.
John Day: (30) Tall, lanky, Virginian who was an expert marksman and hunter. Easy-going, but focused.
McTavish: Partner in the NW Fur Company. Canadian Scot. Tough, and bright.
Thomas Jefferson: the President, Virginian.

Actor 7:
FOX: (30’s) first mate (Chief Operating Officer) aboard the Tonquin. Likely trained in the Navy. Excellent organizational skills, but unlike Thorn, reasonable and good at building relationships. American.
Reznor: Fur trapper in the wilds of the West; grizzled; American.

Actor 8:
Alex MacKenzie: (30’s) Canadian Scot. Quiet, intense. He was the first to travel to the Pacific by canoe in 1793, so there is something of the pioneer about him. Strapping.
Franchere: (early 30’s); American; clerk (accountant) aboard the Tonquin.
Hoback Roberts: (30’s) American fur trapper in the wilds of the west; rugged. assistant to Manuel Lisa; American explorer

Actor 9 – Ramsay Crooks - CAST

Actor 10:
John Reed: (30’s) Irish clerk (accountant) with the Overland Party. Well educated, focused; good sense of humor.
B. Frobischer: Canadian Scot partner in the NW Company; the voice of reason; but wealthy and tough.

Actor 11:
David Stuart: (35-45); Canadian Scot Fur Trapper. Seasoned, grounded, the most Humane and reasonable of his group.
Bradbury: British, early 30’s; botanist. A scientist on the Overland Party.

Actor 12:
Hunt: (40); American. The leader of the Overland Party. A humble, successful Businessman. Leads by consensus; doesn’t love confrontation. Quietly Intense.
Scot 2: Canadian Scot Trapper
Mumford: Ship’s navigator, American

Actor 13:
Pierre Dorion: French/Sioux; 30’s. Likely has a slight French accent; interpreter of Native American languages; rugged; drinks a bit.
Angus: (30’s) Canadian Scot Trapper aboard the Tonquin; Scottish accent; young, wide-eyed; physically imposing
