-All roles require a facility with a variety of British dialects.
-All roles require passable singing and dancing skills.
-All ethnicities are encouraged to apply

MOLLY ASTER: (20s to play 13) African American. A true leader at a time when most girls were followers. Willing to risk everything for the sake of doing right. Curious, intelligent, beginning to feel romantic longings that revert to childish tantrums under pressure.

CAPTAIN SCOTT: (40s) Captain of Britain’s fastest frigate, the Wasp. Years later, he would lead the expedition to the South Pole, freeze to death, and become the iconic hero.

GREMPKIN/MACK/SANCHEZ/FIGHTING PRAWN: (40s) Latino. This actor must play both the aggressive, bullying Grempkin (the mean schoolmaster of the orphanage) and Fighting Prawn (tyrannical King of the Mollusks), as well as the victimized hapless sailor, Mack, and the hard-working Spanish pirate, Sanchez.

SLANK/HAWKING CLAM: (30/40) Slank is the Neverland’s vicious captain, without the skill to lead anyone but himself, and always into disaster. A greedy bastard without a moral compass. Hawking Clam is the Prince of the Mollusks.

ALF: (40s) A “round-shaped,” old sea dog who spends the play sniffing around Mrs. Bumbrake’s skirts. Appealing to her because of his saucy gate and kind heart.

None of the roles will be understudied.
