Prepare a ballad and uptempo in theatre pop style. No legit singing. Be prepared to cold read.
Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
Producer's statement: “All actors must be strong pop/rock singers with great vocal ranges. Show takes place primarily in India just after World War Two. No accents or dialects will be used. You don't have to be Indian, but it's a plus if you can pass for one. All ethnicities are encouraged to submit.”

Early-to-mid 20s, Midwestern, athletic build, sensitive nature behind a rough exterior, tenor/lyric baritone, LEAD
Mary:
Early-to-mid 20s, Midwestern, feminine but strong minded, with a passionate sensual nature, alto, LEAD
Thakur:
Middle-aged, Indian, may be of robust build, the village's doctor and spiritual leader, lyric baritone, belt to A, LEAD
Shafali:
Early-to-mid 20s, Indian, beautiful, supporting role
Boro-ma:
Middle-aged, Indian, wife of Thakur who also partners with him in his humanitarian work, supporting role
Khalil:
Male, 20s-30s, Indian, ardent, sincere, overly zealous, supporting role
Krishna/Ensemble:
Male, middle-aged, Indian, pompous, easy to anger
Chandri-ma/Ensemble:
30s, female, Indian
Two Ensemble Men:
Indian, various ages, must sing and move well
Two Ensemble Women:
To play several minor roles, singers who move well.
