Please bring a song in the style of the show you are auditioning for. You may sing from the score. If you are auditioning for a particular role, we encourage you to sing a song from that role.

Nancy

Age Range 25-35. (Strong Belt) A London prostitute, a very good singing actress. Strong Belt. Cockney Accent. The abused lover of Bill Sykes, tough, street smart, charismatic, wounded, caring, deep down she is moral, fun-loving and a leader. If singing from the score choose It’s A Fine Life and As Long As He Needs Me.

Bill Sykes

Age Range 30-45 A brutish murderer, a strong actor who can sing, Cockney Accent. Sykes is cruel, strong, brawny, tough, with charismatic and intense looks. If singing from the score choose My Name.

Bet

Age Range 16-20 Nancy’s sidekick, a good signing actress. Cockney Accent. Bet looks up to Nancy, as a sister figure. She is a good listener and her face is telling her story. She watches the story unfold. She enjoys Fagin’s gang. If singing from the score choose I’d Do Anything.

Mr. Bumble (also Ensemble)

Age Range 40-55. (High Tenor) A cruel British Beadle. British accent. He’s greedy, pompous and a corrupt government official. He is a large man who uses his size to intimidate people. Mr. Bumble believes he is a Christian, he is a self-righteous man, who takes himself very seriously, except when he is alone with the Widow Corney. If singing from the score choose Boy For Sale.

Widow Corney (also Ensemble)

Age Range 35-50. (Soprano belt) The domineering Mistress of the workhouse. Cockney accent. She is a large woman with a sharp tongue. Widow Corney is corrupt, cruel, stern, greedy, hypocritically selfish, callous, yet she turns into a buttercup on the lap of Mr. Bumble. If singing from the score choose I Shall Scream.

Mr. Sowerberry (also Ensemble, may play multiple roles)

Age Range 35-50 (Baritone)The undertaker. Cockney accent. Creepy in an Edward Gorey way. He’s stingy, slimy, intense, scary, morbid, tall and slim. He “buys” Oliver from the Bumble to use him as a coffin follower. If singing from the score choose That’s Your Funeral.

Mrs. Sowerberry (also Ensemble, may play multiple roles)

Age Range 35-50 (Soprano) The undertaker’s wife. Cockney accent. A mean, judgmental, bossy, demanding, nagging business woman.

Charlotte (Sowerberry) (also Ensemble)

Age Range 16-21 The Sowerberry’s daughter. Cockney accent. Attracted to Noah, very flirty. She is a rude bully and taunts Oliver.

Noah Claypole (also Ensemble)

Age Range 16-19 The Sowerberrys' pimply apprentice. Cockney accent. He is threatened by Oliver and bullies him. He flirts with Charlotte who joins him in his nasty, tormenting cruelty. He appears violent and is revealed to be a coward.

Mr. Brownlow (also Ensemble)

Age Range 50-65 British Accent. A refined older gentleman who turns out to be Oliver’s grandfather. He is an honest, noble and intelligent upper-class man.

Mrs. Bedwin (also Ensemble, may play multiple roles)

Age Range 35-55 (soprano)Mr. Brownlow’s housekeeper. British accent. Warm, personable, moral, compassionate and generous.

Dr. Grimwig (also Ensemble, may play multiple roles)

Age Range 40-55 British accent. Upper class, friend of Mr. Brownlow. A cynical curmudgeon who is jaded, pessimistic, good and moral

Old Sally (also Ensemble, may play multiple roles)

Age Range 40-60 A dying old woman pauper who was the nurse during Oliver's birth.

Adult Ensemble

Age Range 20-45 Excellent singing dancers. ALL TYPES WELCOME.

There are some specialty singing roles and many small roles include: policemen, bar-keepers, knife grinder (bass/baritone), strawberry seller (soprano), milk seller (alto), rose seller (mezzo)

THE LITTLE MERMAID

Ariel

A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted. Gender: Female Age: 18 to 25 Vocal range top: Gb5 Vocal range bottom: Ab3

Prince Eric

A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Gender: Male Age: 20 to 30 Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: B2

Flounder

A fish and smitten with Ariel, her best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Gender: MaleA ge: 18 to 25 Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: A2

Scuttle

A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Gender: Male Age: 25 to 40 Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: C3

King Triton

King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Gender: Male Age: 35 to 45 Vocal range top: F4 Vocal range bottom: Ab2

Sebastian

A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Gender: Male Age: 30 to 45 Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: Bb2

Flotsam

An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Gender: Male Age: 20 to 40 Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: E3

Jetsam

An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Gender: Male Age: 20 to 40 Vocal range top: A4 Vocal range bottom: B2

Ursula

The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive. Gender: Female Age: 35 to 45 Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: Eb3

Chef Louis

The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular. Gender: Male Age: 30 to 50 Vocal range top: A4 Vocal range bottom: Bb2

Ensemble

Crew Members (Pilot, Sailors); Sea Creatures; Mersisters (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana); Gulls; Maids; Chefs; Animals; Princesses
