SEEKING
Actors who identify as women for 3 available roles. This will be performed at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, MA as a co-production between Bridge Repertory Theater (www.bridgerep.org) and Playhouse Creatures Theatre Co (www.playhousecreatures.org). Although this piece is inspired by historical events that happened in Illinois in the 1860's, actors of all ethnicities and identities are strongly encouraged to attend.
PREPARATION
Prepare a heightened or higher language monologue that is NOT in verse. Examples include Chekhov, Ibsen, Williams, Miller, and Shaw. Monologues should not exceed 90 seconds in length. Bring picture and resume.

AVAILABLE ROLES:
MRS. BONNER
A matron in the asylum who uses brute force to wrest compliance from her patients. Her position of authority, combined with the difficult conditions of the asylum, have shaken her own sanity, and she finds a dangerous pleasure in her power over the inmates. IF READING FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE PREPARE AN IRISH DIALECT.
MRS. TENNEY
The meek and gentle matron of the 8th Ward for the violent and hopelessly insane. She attempts to make her patients comfortable, despite the limited resources afforded them by the asylum, and becomes one of Mrs. Packard’s closest allies.
FEMALE WITNESSES
In this production, one actor will play all of the Female Witnesses who testify at the trial of Elizabeth Packard. IF READING FOR THIS TRACK, PLEASE PREPARE MULTIPLE CHARACTERIZATIONS OF ONE MONOLOGUE, OR PREPARE THREE VERY BRIEF CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES, NOT TO EXCEED 2 MINUTES COMBINED TOTAL.
