SEEKING THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPAL ROLES ONLY:
SAM PHILLIPS
30’s. The father of Rock-n-Roll and founder of Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. He discovered Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and countless other musical greats. A towering and charismatic figure in American music. Also a bit of a wheeler-dealer. Non-singing role.
ELVIS PRESLEY
mid 20’s. Seeking actor/singer/guitar player to play the young Elvis at the beginning of his career. Actor must be familiar with Elvis’ music and be a strong, accomplished guitar player; should sound and look somewhat like Elvis without being an impersonator. Must also move extremely well in order to replicate Elvis’ style of music. Vocal range: A below middle C to High C.
JOHNNY CASH
Mid-late 20’s. Seeking actor/singer/guitar player to play the young Johnny Cash at the beginning of his career. Actor must be familiar with Johnny’s music and be a strong, accomplished guitar player; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an impersonator. Vocal range: D below middle C to high A.
CARL PERKINS
Mid-late 20’s. Seeking actor/singer/guitar player to play the young Carl Perkins, ‘the first poet of rock-n-roll’. Has had a career, but is struggling a bit. Takes exception with the others being a part of his recording session. Should sound and look somewhat like Carl Perkins and must play lead guitar extremely well. Vocal range: D above middle C to high A.
JERRY LEE LEWIS
Mid 20’s. Seeking actor/singer/piano player to play the young Jerry Lee Lewis, rock-n-roll’s piano prodigy. Youngest of the group and newly discovered by Sam Phillips. Arrogant, unfocused and a bit of a hothead. Must play flashy piano exceptionally well and be a piano trickster. Most look and sound like Jerry Lee Lewis. Vocal range: D above middle C to high D.
