They are four women who met at Bloomingdales a few years ago and bonded over menopause symptoms. Five years later they have decided to take a girls’ trip together on the high seas to reconnect.
PROFESSIONAL WOMAN (Female Identifying, 45-55, Any Ethnicity, Soprano with a big belt to E) She is in a power position in her career, a working mother and grandmother. A control freak with an attitude she is out of control with the big “M,” and has little patience with the havoc it is reeking on her life. Adept with vocal improvisation.
SOAP STAR (Female Identifying, 42-50, Any Ethnicity, Soprano with a belt to B- Lyric soprano to E) Attractive, well preserved, and buxom. She is obviously passed the ingenue that she has played on a popular soap opera. She is struggling, unsuccessfully, to come to grips with aging because it affects her livelihood as well as her life.
EARTH MOTHER (Female Identifying, 48-55, Any Ethnicity, Strong chest voice to C) A vegetarian, and possibly an herbalist. Follows astrology. She might wear Birkenstocks and socks. Has a warm, pleasant voice.
IOWA HOUSEWIFE (Female Identifying, 44-48, Any Ethnicity, Low chest voice with belt to C) Not quite in shape, though her clothes make her look frumpier than she really is. Has no sense of style, but possesses naïve wisdom. Is in the midst of grieving the loss of her husband of 30 years. Has a sweet, innocent sound.
