Lythgoe Family Panto are casting their 2018 season. The Wonderful Winter of Oz at The Pasadena Civic, Beauty and The Beast, A Christmas Rose at The Laguna Playhouse, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, A Pirates Christmas at Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), and Aladdin and HIs Winter Wish at NC Theatre. PREPARATION
Please prepare 32-bars of a contemporary musical theatre song and or pop song that shows off your voice and range, appropriate to the role you are auditioning for in the show. If asked, please also have ready an additional 16-bars of a different song. If auditioning for a role that doesn’t require singing please still speak-sing a song. Musicality for our shows is still important. Bring sheet music, accompanist will be provided. Please bring a hardcopy headshot/ resume.

[DOROTHY] (OFFER OUT, NOT YET ACCEPTED) Age 14-25 Caring but tough, naive yet adventurous. Dorothy yearns for more in her life, but when she adventures through Oz realizes home with Family and Friends is the most important place to be. Must be an incredible singer and captivating actress. Strong dancing a bonus. Must not be allergic to dogs
[GLINDA, THE GOOD WITCH OF THE NORTH] (This role is CAST) Age 20-40 Beautiful, sincere, funny and caring. She guides us through Dorothy’s adventure and the show. She is ever present and all knowing. A twinkle in her eye. Glamorous and yet maternal. Strong singing (big belt), wonderful witty actress. Dancing a bonus.
[THE WIZARD] (This role is CAST) Male or Female, any age over 18. The great and powerful ruler of Oz! Must have it all, singing, dancing, acting. Powerful presence, versatile actor.
[WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST] (OFFER OUT, NOT YET ACCEPTED) Female 20-50. The villain of the story, she is bent on grabbing Dorothy after she accidentally kills her sister and takes her shoes. A comedic villainess that we must love to hate. She is hungry for power. Must be able to interactive/improv with audience. Strong powerful presence as an actress and ever bigger voice!
[THE SCARECROW] (This role is CAST) Male age 20-40. A strong singer/dancer with an honest quality, an optimist through and through and a sympathetic friend. Lovable, and a little clumsy, must be an excellent dancer, and a great comedian who is good with improv.
[THE COWARDLY LION] (OFFER OUT, NOT YET ACCEPTED) Male age 20-50. Strong singer, also moves well on stage, cuddly actor with excellent comic timing, he is hilarious and best friend to the audience. He is frightened of everything, extremely over-the-top. By the end, he is able to find his confidence. (popping, freestyle all bonus). Charming and thoughtful, a kind-hearted romantic. A very mechanical man who believes he doesn't have a heart. Wide eyed and gentle. Singing not necessary.

[BELLE] (This role is CAST) Age 20-30 Vibrant and spirited, voracious reader, beautiful inside and out. Strong pop singing voice.
[BEAST/PRINCE] (This role is CAST) Age 20-40 Strong presence, 6 ft or taller. Has been cursed in life but still has a good heart underneath his hard exterior. Must have excellent pop singing voice.
[LOUIS VUITTON] (This role is CAST) Age 30-40, Butler to the prince. Think Vincent Price (but French). English, mid Atlantic accent or French accent preferred. Strong, stable, reliable, stiff upper lip. Strong singing voice and character work. Work with Puppets is a bonus!
[MAURICE (BELLE’S FATHER)] Age 50-70. Huge heart, a bit scattered but a once successful merchant who has lost everything. He loves his daughter with all of his heart. Warm, character actor. Does not have to sing, but singing is a plus
[GUS] Age 24-40 Strong actor with comedy flair. Completely self obsessed and in love with his own looks. Determined to wed Belle. Must have a good strong voice, (perhaps a Josh Groban type voice) and strong comedy skills. Very well built and handsome.
[PIERRE] Age 20-40, Gus sidekick and confidant. Thinks the world of Gus (perhaps is in love with him). Very strong comedy skills. Improvisation a must. High pop/ rock voice a plus.
[DAME] Age 30-50, THIS ROLE IS PLAYED BY A MAN. Woman played by a man with comedic flair and strong singing voice with lots of soul. Extremely verbose. Think Harvey Fierstein from Hairspray but possibly French and fabulously dressed.
Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, A Pirates Christmas

[PETER PAN] (This role is CAST) MALE, Age 18-25, height 5'10 or under (to play stage age of 14-18) Clever, adventurous, and confident leader of The Lost Boys. Self-Centered yet caring and joyous. Desires to stay a child forever however his relationship with Wendy forces him to face new emotions. Captain Hook is his arch nemesis. Actor must be able to convey the complexity of the character and command the stage Excellent singer and actor, agile mover and unafraid to fly. Pop Vocal sensibility
[WENDY] (This role is CAST) Age 18-25 (to play stage age of 13-18) On the verge of adolescence. Pleasant and charming girl who takes the role of ''Mother'' to The Lost Boys. Meeting Peter awakens romantic and adventurous feelings in her. Must be a strong pop/country singer and actress.
[TINKER BELL] (This role is CAST) Age between 18-30, height 5'6 and under. Petite, feisty, beautiful, vibrant, spirited fairy. She is Peter Pans sidekick and is deeply in love with Peter and extremely jealous of Wendy. Must have a strong pop singing voice (belt) and strong acting abilities. Dance and the ability to roller-skate are a huge plus.
[CAPTAIN HOOK/MR. DARLING] (This role is CAST) Age 40-50 Captain Hook is a classic villain with a comedic flair. Peter Pan's nemesis, he is jealous of Peter's confidence and charisma. Outwardly strong and tries to be menacing, however underneath is a weak and vulnerable coward. Strong actor with great comedic timing, audience must love to hate him, drives the show, able to interact with audience, must have good singing voice. Must have good agility for stage combat. Mr. Darling is the stern but loving father of Wendy, Michael and John.
[SMEE] (This role is CAST) Age 30-50's, Captain Hook's bumbling right hand man. He is a jovial, simple and lovable sidekick. Must be extremely comfortable with improv and interacting with the audience. Strong comedic character. Direct contrast to Hook in appearance and physical stature. Must be able to move. Excellent comedic and acting abilities. Singing a plus but not necessary for role.
[TIGER LILY] (This role is CAST) Age 18-30, The beautiful princess of the Kikiwaka’s. Tiger Lily is brave, flirtatious, coy, tough and self confident in contrast to Wendy's demure demeanor. Must be an excellent dancer. Singing a plus.

[WIDOW TWANKEY] (This role is CAST) Age 30-50 played by a man with comedic flair and strong voice. Think Harvey Fierstein from Hairspray
[THE PRINCESS] (This role is CAST) Age between 18-30 Feisty, beautiful, vibrant, spirited. Good acting ability. Must have a strong singing voice and able to dance. (song example “Call Me Maybe”)
[WISHEE WASHEE] (This role is CAST) Age 24-40 Strong actor with comedy flair, warm friendly, audience must love him, drives the show, able to interact with audience, must have good voice and must have previous comedy experience.
[SULTAN] (This role is CAST) Age 40-60, overprotective of his daughter, and a bit bumbling. Must be a strong actor and be good with comedy, dynamic on stage.
[EVIL ABANAZAR] (This role is CAST) Age 40-60, strong, overbearing and extremely evil. Must be a strong actor, dynamic on stage and able to control and interact with the audience. Must have a good singing voice and experience in Magic is a plus. (Song style: Coldplay)
[GENIE] Male OR Female 30-60. Over the top full of life, must have a strong singing voice, comedy, and great movement. (sings “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind and Fire)
