BREAKDOWN
JODY
Female or Male, 40’s. Smart and organized with a good sense of humor; powerful but cautious; never fussy of stuffy; able to enjoy quiet and the simplicity of routines; stays inside their map store rather than deal with the mess and death on the outside; the emotional heart of the play. (Actors of color particularly encouraged to audition.)
CARL
Female, Male, or Trans, late 20’s-early 30’s. Charming, funny, supportive and full of energy; nimble and clever but never superficial; a good friend, supporter and agile white liar; worried by the state of the world but a do-er; faces life head on but knows when to skew the truth and when not to based on their audience; an activist; the emotional engine of the play. (Trans actors particularly encouraged to audition. Actors of color also encouraged to audition.)
