SPIRIT OF THE CELLO
In this LA Phil/Toyota “Symphonies for Youth” live concert and theatrical presentation, The Los Angeles Philharmonic and a virtuoso cellist lead us on a humorous exploration of the role of the cello, through music by Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn. Our cellist learns the true spirit of his instrument, and his cello discovers many other possibilities for making music besides being in the spotlight.
Casting:
SPIRIT OF THE CELLO: 1 Male, 18+; preferably Asian, Latino or African American, but will consider all ethnicities. The Spirit of the Cello is quite literally the voice of the passionate, mellow, intuitive, and wielding instrument that is being played by our virtuosic musician. Mirroring the capabilities of the instrument itself, the Spirit of the Cello must possess vulnerability, a need for dedication and loyalty, and a large range of emotions and quirks. Seeking stage trained/experienced actors who are comfortable acting in a large venue with a large audience and with distinct comfort with movement and rhythm.
