Breakdown
It all begins when sweet Nan and her out-of-work webmaster hubby, Steve, realize they can't afford to keep up the extravagant gift giving that has become their family's tradition. In an effort to make everyone happy, they announce that they have made a gift to a charity in everyone's name. Except it's a fictitious charity. No problem — until the website that Steve creates to seal the deal becomes prey to cyberspace hijinks, with deliciously funny and unpredictable results.
SEEKING:
NAN (Female, late 20’s – mid 30's, Any race) She works at Crespy, an upscale private high school, where is she is poorer than her students. She’s not happy about it. She is obsessed with Melinda Gates and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She’s married to Steve. Smart, funny, yearning for meaning in her life.
STEVE (Male, late 20’s – mid 30's, Any race) Nan's husband. An out of work web designer, he’s feeling ineffectual after being fired - and is embarrassed that he is now unable to participate in his family's over the top Christmas gift giving tradition. He is fastidious, tightly wound, and terribly well organized. One of those people who needs to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning
MOLLY (Female, late 20's – mid 30's, Any race) Nan’s sassy and gutsy best friend who wants a baby. She works with Nan and has been her everyday hero to Nan since they were 8.
ALLEN BELL (Male, early 30’s - 40's, any race) An award winning string theory poet who is brainy, eccentric and in search of greater meaning in his life. Smitten with Nan, he writes a large check to her charity impulsively and goes to Africa to spend his prize money in a meaningful way, bringing back one of the locals. May be British.
HANK (Male, late 20's – 30's) Steve’s brother – slick, trendy, arrogant and extravagant, he likes making money and spending it in highly visible ways. A hedge fund type. Gay Republican.
SAL (Male, late 20's – 30's, Any race) Hank’s husband. Also in finance. Politically conservative gay man, who is judgmental and self-righteous.
AYUTUNDE (Female, 20's – 30's, Black) A young and lovely woman from Africa.
