Elle Woods- The quintessential Valley Girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more to offer than just a pretty face and bubbly personality. Female, 18-28. Vocal range top: G5. Vocal range bottom: Gb2
Emmett Forrest- A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing. He is charming, quirky, loveable, and friendly. Male, 20-32. Vocal range top: A4. Vocal range bottom: B2
Paulette- A brash, caring, optimistic hair stylist who is friends with Elle and longs to find a man for herself. Female, 35-45. Vocal range top: A5. Vocal range bottom: A3
Professor Callahan- A pompous, sleazy and manipulative law professor at Harvard who is highly successful, but completely immoral. Male, 45-65. Vocal range top: F#4. Vocal range bottom: A2
Warner Huntington III- A good-looking but shallow and pompous guys who breaks Elle's heart and heads off to Harvard Law. Male, 20-25. Vocal range top: Ab4. Vocal range bottom: Eb3

Lt. Colonel Nathan Jessup- Early to Mid 40's. The golden boy of the Marine Corps. Jessep is a combat veteran who has risen in rank faster that others contemporary to his age and years of service. He is expected to be appointed Director of Operations for the National Security Council. This would be an extremely powerful and prestigious staff assignment.
Lt. Junior Grade Daniel Kaffee- Mid to late 20's. Attended Harvard Law on a Navy Scholarship. Son of a legendary, popular and politically connected Civil Rights lawyer.
Lt. Commander JoAnne Galloway- Mid 30's. Described as a harmless neurotic, Galloway is detail oriented lawyer who lacks an eye for savvy courtroom tactics.
Lt. Junior Grade Sam Weinberg- Mid to late 20's. Young JAG attorney, close friend to Kaffee. Sam is always the smartest kid in the class. Sam's observations give voice to the play's moral/ethical conflicts.
Captain Jack Ross- Late 20's to Early 30's. Experiences and talented JAG attorney/prosecutor. Professional and detached, Ross knows how to try a good case.
Commander Walter Stone- Mid 40's. Career Navy physician. Loyal to Jessup. Expert witness with very important testimony at trial.
Private 1st Class Louden Downey- 18-19. Downey has been in the Marine Corps for ten months. He has no close family members outside the Corps. Not particularly outgoing or vocal, he responds well to his squad leader, Dawson. Accused of murdering Santiago.
Lance Corporal Harold W Dawson- 19-23. Dawson is a very good leader , who was held back from promotion after he defied Kendrick's questionable disciplinary orders. Lives by a simple code, valuing honor and personal integrity. Accused of murdering Santiago.
Major Matthew A. Markinson. 40's. Older than Jessep, yet outranked by him. He's served 21 years in the USMC, and is second in command at GITMO. He spent 17 years as a counter-intelligence operative for the Command Intelligence Center. Like Sam, Markinson has strong mora/ethical observations about the events that have occurred.
Private 1st Class William T Santiago- 18-19. A young Marine in trouble, the victim of a Code Red gone bad. Willy's death puts this story in motion.
Captain Isaac Whitaker- Late 40's-50's. A career JAG attorney, Isaac is a senior administrator who supervises young trial attorneys. Isaac has a sharp wit and gentle manner.

Bert- The narrator of the story, is a good friend to Mary Poppins. An everyman, Bert has many occupations, including hurdy-gurdy player, sidewalk artist, and chimney sweep. Bert watchs over the children as well as the goings on in Cherry Tree Lane. He has charm, speaks with a Cockney accent and is a song-and-dance man. Male, 30's. Vocal range top: F#4. Vocal range bottom: B2
George Banks- Father to Jane and Michael Banks, is a banker to the very fiber of his being. Demanding precision and order in his household, he is a pipe-and-slippers man who doesn't have much to do with his children and believes that he had the perfect upbringing by his nanny, the cruel Miss Andrew. His emotional armor, however, conceals a sensitive soul. A baritone, George may speak-sing as necessary. Male, 40's. Vocal range top: Eb4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2
Winifred Banks- George's wife and Jane and Michael's mother. A former actress, she is a loving and distracted homemaker who is busy trying to live up to her husband's desire to only associate with the best people as well as be the model wife and mother. She suffers from the conflicting feelings that she's not up to the task of being Mrs. Banks, yet she is, and more. She has great warmth and simplicity to her tone. Female, 30's. Vocal range top: D5
Mary Poppins- Jane and Michael Banks new nanny. She is extraordinary and strange, neat and tidy, delightfully vain yet particular, and sometimes a little frightening but always exciting. She is practically perfect in every way and always means what she says. A mezzo-soprano with strong top notes, she should be able to move well. She can have a more traditional soprano sound, but precision and diction is key. Female, 20's. Vocal range top: C6. Vocal range bottom: Gb3
