All stage managerial positions have been filled.
Note: Multiple ethnicities are found throughout the population of the Republic of the Philippines from the migrant arrivals from China, Spain, Korea, and Southeast Asia, among other nations. Producers state, “Because of the specific world of the play, we are particularly interested in considering performers to play Filipino and/or Asian characters.” All must have GREAT POP SINGING VOICES and move well.
Please wear clothing you can move in. Please wear sneakers for the flat shoe combination. Please be warmed up and ready to dance at the time of the call.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.
Holding/Audition room information:
The audition room (Studio A) can accommodate no more than 52 individuals at a time. The holding room can accommodate no more than 30 individuals at a time.
Storyline: Follows the intertwining lives of Imelda Romualdez Marcos, Ferdinand Marcos, his political rival Ninoy Aquino, and the woman who raised Imelda, Estrella Cumpas, against the political backdrop of the Marcoses' rise to power and fortune in the Philippines, and ultimately, the Marcoses’ expulsion by the People Power Revolution of 1986. Set in the clubs of the world’s rich and famous that Imelda loved and frequented, the piece follows a period of history from poor beginnings in the 1950s to the height of her corruption and power in the 1980s, when Imelda and her family were forced to flee the Philippines by the EDSA Revolution.
THE DJ/ENSEMBLE: 20s-30s. Filipino. Baritone or Tenor. GUITARIST. Very confident singing lead vocals while playing/accompanying himself on guitar. A charismatic figure. At times he is a story-teller to the audience. At other times DJ/MC. Calling out instructions during songs. Good at counting beats while leading a group (counting people in and out of sections of songs). Slick. Enigmatic.
ENSEMBLE MEN/SWINGS: Various Filipino characters (20s-30s) including Soldiers, Citizens of Manila, EDSA Demonstrators, others.
May understudy the following roles:
MARCOS/ENSEMBLE: 20s-30s. Intensely charismatic, masculine politician. Seductive. Sexy. Johnny Cash.
AQUINO (NINOY)/ENSEMBLE: 20s-30s. Political Opposition leader with righteous principles. Virtuous, charismatic, attractive. Great orator. A singer with strong R&B/Gospel voice.
THE DJ/ENSEMBLE: 20s-30s. Filipino. Baritone or Tenor. GUITARIST. Very confident singing lead vocals while playing/accompanying himself on guitar. A charismatic figure. At times he is a story-teller to the audience. At other times DJ/MC. Calling out instructions during songs. Good at counting beats while leading a group (counting people in and out of sections of songs). Slick. Enigmatic.
ENSEMBLE WOMEN/SWINGS: Various Filipino characters (20s-30s) including Beauty Pageant contestants, Citizens of Manila, EDSA Demonstrators, among others.
May understudy the following roles:
IMELDA MARCOS: 20’s-30’s. Filipina. Charismatic, complex. People everywhere are drawn to her superficial magnetism. At first, we meet her as a teenager, following her rags to riches story. To eventually becoming a powerful, morally bankrupt First Lady of the Philippines.
ESTRELLA/ENSEMBLE: 20’s-30’s. Filipina. Servant and confidante, who raised Imelda after her mother’s death, despite being only slightly older than her. Strong maternal, nurturing force with a gentler singing voice.
