BREAKDOWN

The following roles have been CAST

PAMELA
role CAST– TBA (20’s) The favored, beautiful, older princess. Willful, self-dramatizing, obsessed with appearances--hers and others. A good egg underneath it all.

PHILOCLEA
role CAST – TBA (20’s) The younger, plainer princess. Though not a pushover, she is the good girl who does what's best for the family. Would prefer not to be a royal if it meant she could settle down with her shepherd Musidorus.

MUSIDORUS
role CAST - TBA (20’s) A guileless--and fearless--shepherd who adores Philoclea. Discovers another side to himself when forced to cross-gender. A very offbeat hero who is great with physical comedy.

DAMETAS
role CAST - TBA (40’s – late 50’s) Prime minister. Wise, gentle, a good wing man to Basilius. A widower who bears a not-so-secret sorrow. Father to Mopsa, whom he adores. Has a hard time showing his feelings, or processing the feelings of others.

ALL ETHNICITIES STRONLY ENCOURAGED FOR ALL ROLES

SEEKING:

MOPSA
(20’s) Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical. Growing up without a mother has made her wise beyond her years about everyone and everything, which is why she is the (sometime) narrator to the show. Must have an excellent pop/rock voice and be proficient with classical text.

GYNECIA
(40’s – early 50’s) Queen of Arcadia. Sexy, wise, beautiful. Like any longstanding spouse, knows how to get her way with her husband when push comes to shove. Afraid of getting older. A playful spirit underneath. Must have an excellent pop/rock voice and be proficient with classical text.

BASILIUS
(40’s – early 50’s) King of Arcadia. A sexy, good ol' boy. A hothead, but not a despot. Blindly thinks Arcadia is doing great under his masculine rule, which will be sorely tested during the course of the show. Lacks self-awareness. Must have an excellent pop/rock voice and be proficient with classical text.

PYTHIO
(The Oracle) (Late 30’s and up) Powerful. Mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor--can see through everyone--they are the Oracle of Delphi, after all. Seeking performers of all gender identities and ethnicities. Must have an excellent pop/rock voice and be proficient with classical text.
