TRACY TURNBLAD:
Stage Age: 16?19. White. A pleasantly plump teenager with a big heart who has dreams of being a dancing star. Not afraid to be herself and stand up for what she believes in. She is friendly, relentless, and goodhearted with a vibrant, lovable personality. She loves to sing and dance. Mezzo?Belt.
MOTORMOUTH MAYBELLE:
Stage age 40+. African American. Plus-sized, sassy, all embracing radio DJ and once-a-month “Negro Day” guest hosts on a TV dance show. She wears blonde wigs as her trademark. Soulful Alto.
WILBUR TURNBLAD:
Stage Age: 40+. Goofy, mischievous joke shop proprietor but always a reliable dad. Madly in love with his wife. He encourages his daughter to follow her dreams. Baritone.
