Based on the Book Stompin’ At The Savoy: The Story of Norma Miller Published by Candlewick Press
Set in Harlem in 1935, Stompin’ At The Savoy weaves together the beat of the street with the elegance and theatrics of the legendary Savoy Ballroom; the only dance hall in a still segregated America where Blacks and Whites could mingle and dance together on the same dance floor. Inspired by the life of Norma Miller, Stompin’ At The Savoy captures the fullness of the Swing Era - juxtaposing hand clapping games and jump rope routines with Big Band classics.
