Breakdown

Notes from director: This play does not move in a linear way. It bounces forward and backwards in time to unravel and unfold the complicated relationship between Doug and Kayleen. The characters should be played with no gimmickry. Something is huge in their deep feelings for each other. It is a journey of why we can't connect with the people we love most in the world. A beautiful, complex, touching love story.

SYNOPSIS: Over the course of 30 years, the lives of Kayleen and Doug intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading the two childhood friends to compare scars and
the physical calamities that keep drawing them together.

Seeking actors who read 20s to mid 30s as both play characters at ages 8 to 38 years old.

Seeking:

Doug:
He is earnest and a bit goofy. A boy / man. Has a daredevil childlike streak in him that is always leaving him with some kind of injury. A gallant noble quality about him when it comes to Kayleen. A knight willing to suffer anything on her behalf.

Kayleen:
She is a damaged child that grows up to be an equally damaged woman. The eternal damsel in distress. Can't seem to give or receive affection from the only person she truly loves, Doug.
