Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the
extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and
dressing rooms.
Holding/Audition room information:
The audition room can accommodate no more than 4 individuals at a time.
The holding room can accommodate no more than 50 individuals at a time.
PLEASE NOTE: unless otherwise specified, for all roles we are actively seeking and welcoming of
actors of any ethnicity, race, gender/gender identification/gender expression, and physical and
neurological ability.
MAX (CAST): female/female identifying, 30s. Henry’s wife. Earthy and maternal. Formidable and
strong when she needs to be.
HENRY (CAST): male/male identifying, early 30s. Max’s husband. Likeable and affable. A good sense
of humor though not without a dark side.
RALEIGH (CAST): female/female identifying, 60s. A formidable mother figure who runs the
household. Tender when she wants to be.
MARLOW: female/female identifying, late teens. Eldest child of the household. The intense ringleader
of all the kids in the house. Quick witted with a sardonic sense of humor. A survivor. Strong singing
voice a plus, but NOT a musical theatre voice, more folky/ethereal.
BERNIE: female/female identifying, mid-late teens. Deaf. Studious, watchful, intense. Protective of
THE BOY. A survivor.
A1656: female/female-identifying, mid-late teens, white, Jewish. A1656 is warm, funny, whip-smart,
upbeat but not a push-over. She has presence. You know she's in the room. A survivor. Strong singing
voice a plus- NOT musical theatre, more folk-y/ethereal. Familiarity with conversational ASL is also a
major plus. ** Please highlight ASL proficiency/experience in submission if applicable.
SQUIRREL: female/female identifying, 12-14. Funny, sharp as a razor, feral. A survivor. Nice singing
voice a plus, NOT musical theatre, more folk-y/ethereal.
THE BOY: male/male identifying, 10-12. The youngest of the group. Haunting, haunted. Does not
speak, by choice, but also does not miss a thing.
THE ANCIENT: female/female identifying, 60s. A mysterious, foreboding and possibly frightening
figure. Flexible, singular and dynamic character possessed of a strong physical life, possibly with
dance experience or experience in/proficiency in other forms of physical expression.
