SEEKING

We are seeking performers with excellent acting skills, strong vocal skills, dance training and a working acquaintance with Yiddish or a great ear for language. Fidler Afn Dakh (Fiddler On The Roof) is performed entirely in Yiddish (with English and Russian supertitles).

All should have the ability to sing and act in foreign languages (experience with Yiddish and Hebrew a plus) and be able to move well.

PREPARATION

Please be prepared to sing a song from Fiddler On The Roof, if possible. Otherwise, please sing traditional musical theater repertoire that shows your voice and range. Audition material can be performed in English. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in your proper key and bring a headshot and resume, stapled together.

BREAKDOWN

Synopsis: Experience Fiddler on the Roof in a new way– in Yiddish, the language of Tevye and his family! The rich Yiddish translation (with English and Russian supertitles) adds new depth and dimension to the most well-known Jewish musical in the world. Don’t miss the beloved story of a community and its struggle to balance traditions and desires in a changing world. The little town of Anatevka will bustle with the sounds of mame-loshn in the U.S. premiere of Fiddler in Yiddish from July 4 through August 26, 2018, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.

All roles are open to performers of all ethnicities.

The cast requires excellent singers who are versatile actors and dancers or strong movers to play characters ages 20’s – 60’s and to possibly fill principal understudy assignments.

Dancers:
Seeking excellent dancers who sing well to play characters ages 20’s – 60’s and to possibly fill principal understudy assignments.

Seeking:

Grandma Tzeitel: Golde's deceased grandmother, who endorses the marriage between Tzeitel and Motel. Female. Age: 60’s
Vocal range top: D5/ Vocal range bottom: C#4

Fruma-Sarah: Lazar's Wolf's deceased first wife. She becomes enraged when her husband plans to wed Tzeitel. Female. Age: 35 to 45
Vocal range top: Eb5/Vocal range bottom: C4

Shandel: Motel’s mother. Age: 45-60. Female. Belter.

Ensemble: Villagers and Russian Soldiers
