SEEKING:
JEAN SHEPHERD (Age 40-60) Charismatic and good-natured curmudgeon. Narrates the story, but also doubles as other characters at times.
MOTHER (Age 30-40) Straightforward, in charge, no nonsense. Also warm and likable. A devoted wife and mother.
THE OLD MAN (Age 35-45) Devoted father and husband, good-natured with a gruff exterior.
RALPHIE A regular 5th grade kid, bright and mischievous, whose one wish is to get a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun for Christmas.
RANDY (Age 7-9) Ralphie's younger brother. Cute, lovable, but stubborn and whiny.
MISS SHIELDS (Age 25-50) Ralphie's 5th grade teacher. Stereotypical 1940’s schoolteacher who is prim, proper, stern when necessary; transforms into a dynamic, show-stopping belter.

JAMES “THUNDER” EARLY (25-35) African American. Self-proclaimed King of Soul. Chart topping and dynamic performer.
EFFIE WHITE (20-35) African American. The original lead singer of The Dreams. Dynamic and head strong.
CC WHITE (20-35) African American. Effie's songwriter brother. Idealistic and loyal.
MARTY (30-45) African American. James “Thunder” Early's manager, later replaced by Curtis. Later becomes Effie's manager.
MICHELLE MORRIS / ENSEMBLE (20-35) African American. Joins The Dreams when Effie leaves and Deena becomes lead singer. Headstrong, confident; dynamic singer / performer, fits right in.
