SYNOPSIS:
Tonight, 18th century scientific genius Emilie du Châtelet is back and determined to answer the question she died with: love or philosophy, head or heart? In this highly theatrical rediscovery of one of history’s most intriguing women, Emilie defends her life and loves; and ends up with both a formula and a legacy that permeates history.
Soubrette: a young woman, 30s: Doubles as young Emilie (Voltaire's lover, brilliant young scientist); Voltaire’s niece (vapid and vain); Emilie's daughter (direct and strong)
Gentleman: 40s, Doubles as Emilie's younger lover (doting, enthusiastic), Emilie's husband (formal), Tutor (sexy, academic), Courtier (snide, proud)
Madam: woman, 50’s-60’s, Doubles as Emilie's mother (serious, wounded) French Courtier (haughty, a gossip), and the Maid (scornful, longsuffering)
Emilie du Châtelet: (CAST) woman, 40’s. Confident and curious.
Voltaire: (CAST) man, 50’s. Charming, boyish.
