Seeking:
Les Brown: 40 to 60 years old, male. Excellent piano player. Les Brown is the former band leader of the Duke Blue Devils. Piano player should be familiar with the lyrical stylings of music from the 1940s and 1950s and have the ability to improvise and interpret on the piano. Knowledge and love of Doris Day's songs is a plus. Strong character work required, playing multiple men from Doris Day's life: Les Brown (band leader), Barney Rapp (band leader), Al Jorden (trombonist), Marty Melcher (agent/husband), Michael Curtiz (film director), among others.
Doris Day: 35-50 years old, female. Singer with a girl-next-door quality. Light dancing required. Doris Day was an American actor, singer, and animal rights activist, who began as a big band singer in 1939 and went on to record more than 650 songs in a span of 20 years and to become one of the biggest Hollywood film stars of the 1950s–1960s. Must be able to reflect Doris Day's vocal quality. The Doris in this play is not simply the product we know from her films, but the woman underneath.
