NOTE: All actors must complete a background check before hire and must be able to provide documentation of full vaccination of a US-government approved COVID-19 vaccine regimen for COVID19, at the time of hire.

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room can accommodate no more than 50 individuals at a time.

The holding room can accommodate no more than 60 individuals at a time.

Dallas Theater Center maintains a resident acting company. When casting productions, DTC looks first to the Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company to fill roles. DTC also maintains a relationship with Meadows School of the Arts at SMU and Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts. As part of this relationship DTC often casts students from these programs in mainstage productions. Additionally, DTC casts actors from the region and nationally for a variety of roles. Auditions for these roles occur on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

Dallas Theater Center works under the League of Regional Theatres (LORT) contract with Actors Equity Association, the union of actors and stage managers. The union determines the number of Equity and non-Equity actors cast in each production. Local Equity and non-equity general auditions for the upcoming season are scheduled once per year, usually in late spring. Information about local generals will be posted on our website and on the Actors' Equity website as well as through our local media.

Local children’s auditions are held on a show-by-show basis. Information about local children’s generals will be posted on our site as well as through our local media prior to auditions.

Synopsis: In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named Rocky.

ROCKY: Male, 18-30 (Range: A3-G4) Frank’s magnificent creation. Sexually appealing with prominent muscles.

USHERETTE/MAGENTA: Female, Any Age (Range: Bb3-Eb5) One of Frank’s servants. **This role has been precast.

BRAD: Male, 26-35 (Range: Bb2-G4) Quirky, but very much in love with his fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times. **This role has been precast.

JANET: Female, 26-35 (Range: A3-Eb5) Good girl who is madly in love with Brad. Always seems to be frightened of something. Keeps losing more of her clothes throughout the story. Emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily. **This role has been CAST.

NARRATOR: Age Flexible (Non-Singing Role) Follows our two heroes through the story by narrating directly to the audience. **This role has been CAST.

RIFF RAFF: Male, 25-40 (Range: D3-B4) Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants. **This role has been CAST.

COLUMBIA: Age Flexible (Range: E4-E5) One of Frank’s servants. **This role has been CAST.

FRANK 'N' FURTER: Transvestite from Transylvania, 30-45 (Range: D3-G4) Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction. **This role has been CAST.

EDDIE/DR. SCOTT: 28-40 (Range: E3-F#4) Eddie, delivery man, “went to pieces.” Misses the rock and role of life. Comes back to life only to die after his solo. Scott is Eddie’s Uncle. **This role has been CAST.

Synopsis: Good Friday. The New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church's Seven Last Words service is in full swing. But outside in the church parking lot another resurrection story is taking shape. Sis, the Vice President of Usher Board Number One and her protégé Pickles, find themselves in a battle royale of romantic quagmires. A follow-up to penny candy, A Queer Black Rom-Com for Eastertide, catches up with one of the candy house's most beloved characters, Rosie-Girl.

BREEDLOVE: (Black, Female, 55-65) Jackie Breedlove. Divorced. She’s visiting New Jerusalem for the Seven Last Words service, but she was a member fifteen years ago when she left to join her husband’s church.

EFFIE: (Black, Male, 28) Ephraim Love. Instead of Ephraim, his gay friends call him Effie - of course they do. A former member of Usher Board #1. He no longer attends the church.

ROLES CAST:

SIS: (Black, Female, 55-65) Rosie Franklin but everyone calls her Sis. Vice President of Usher Board #1 of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Masculine of center and it is reflected in her usher uniform. She also wears a small gold chain that says “Rosie” from way back in the day when she sold crack. No one dares ask her to dress differently. **This role has been CAST.

PICKLES: (Black, Male, 20’s) Ivan Shamar Pickles. If Malvolio from Twelfth Night got Phaedra Parks from The Real Housewives of Atlanta pregnant, Pickles would be the offspring. He is the newest member of Usher Board #1. **This role has been CAST.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

Synopsis: This clever, contemporary adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic boasts all the glamour, intrigue and suspense of Dame Agatha’s celebrated novel, with a healthy dose of humor to quicken the pace. The mystery begins when, just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. In the morning, an American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – before he or she strikes again.

HECTOR MACQUEEN: (Male, 30 – 40) A nervous young American in his thirties with a strained, rather beleaguered face. Tightly wound, edgy and nervous; he seems to always be on the verge of falling apart or coming unwound. Hector appears to be suppressing something. Perhaps he knows more than he is willing to tell.

ROLES CAST:

HERCULE POIROT: (Male, 55-65) A famous Belgian detective; a Big personality; authoritative, witty, charismatic and slightly pompous; driven to find the answers, good or bad, with a strong moral sense; very aware of his ability and his well-deserved reputation. Meticulous and exacting, Poirot is a keen observer of detail and an astute judge of character. Certain that the crime was committed by someone on the train, he confidently and patiently works his way to a shocking solution. **This role has been CAST.

MONSIEUR BOUC: (Male, 35 – 50) A Belgian man of good humor; playful, proud, generous; a predilection for grandeur; a whirlwind of energy; an excellent comedian. A young middle-aged man of good humor, Monsieur Bouc is an old friend of Poirot’s. He appears removed from the crime, often acting as Poirot’s sounding board, but no one on the train is above suspicion. **This role has been CAST.

MARY DEBENHAM: (Female, 25 - 35) An English beauty in her late twenties; a governess, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardness about her person. When she first appears, she is very anxious. Perhaps she is harboring a terrible secret. **This role has been CAST.

MICHEL THE CONDUCTOR/ MARCEL THE HEADWAITER: MICHEL - a good-looking Frenchman, about 40, a quiet, almost grave sense of humor; unfailingly polite. He’s seen a lot in his years on the Orient Express, and he knows his way around the train, making him particularly well positioned to get away with murder. And MARCEL - a Turkish waiter, snooty, smooth; has great comic timing. Professional in demeanor, he is knowledgeable and a bit overconfident. Mystery fans know it’s a cliché, but never rule out the possibility that The Butler Did It. **This role has been CAST.

PRINCESS DRAGOMIROFF: (Female, 60+) A Russian Princess Dowager in her seventies. Very formal, a sweeping, impressive presence; imperial, impatient. She enters her compartment “like a galleon in full sail.” Expensively dressed and handsomely bejeweled, she certainly wouldn’t need to kill for money. But might she have another motive? **This role has been CAST.

GRETA OHLSSON: (Female, 25 – 60) Plain and modest, Swedish, Greta has a frightened, sheep-like quality about her. There is something odd about this woman. Could she be harboring a deadly secret? **This role has been CAST.

COUNTESS ANDRENYI: (Female, 25 – 35) Hungarian Countess Eléna Andrenyi is out of a fairy tale. She’s in her twenties, brilliantly beautiful and always dressed to the nines in furs and diamonds. She seems too good to be true — but is she a murderer? **This role has been CAST.

HELEN HUBBARD: (Female, 45 – 55) An outspoken American in her fifties, well dressed with a touch of flamboyance, Mrs. Hubbard is a tough-talking broad with rough edge and a bold sense of humor. She seems the least likely to commit murder, but is there something about her the others don’t know? **This role has been CAST.

COLONEL ARBUTHNOT / SAMUEL RATCHETT: (Male, 35 - 60) COLONEL ARBUTHNOT - A Scotsman in his mid-thirties, Arbuthnot is handsome and very matter of fact. He’s hopelessly in love with Mary. Would he kill for her? And RATCHETT - A middle-aged American businessman, Ratchett is brusque and unforgiving, with a threatening demeanor and a whiplash of a voice. He’s made plenty of enemies… almost everyone has wished him dead. But whodunit?

Inspired by her life story and filled with her music, FANNIE is a hopeful rallying cry that honors the spirit of a true revolutionary.

FANNIE LOU HAMER: (Black, Female, 40ish-50ish) One charismatic actress will sing and narrate all parts (except for the real-life recordings of President Johnson). She will have singing support from our band and perhaps our audience. **This role has been CAST
