HAND TO GOD by Robert Askins Directed by Tracy Brigden First rehearsal 8/30 Tech 9/20 - 9/23 Previews 9/24 - 9/29 Runs: 9/30 - 10/16 SEEKING: JASON/TYRONE – 17 (to be played by an actor 18+). A high school misfit. Shy and mild-mannered, his polite and gentle nature masks deep pain and brewing rage. His puppet alter-ego Tyrone is foul-mouthed, dirty-minded, hyper-articulate, extremely aggressive, and flat out hilarious. TIMOTHY – 17 (to be played by an actor 18+). The school bad boy and class clown. He is a dominant Alpha male type with secret demons and a biting sense of humor. MARGERY – 40’s. Jason’s mother and church puppet group leader. Struggling to cope with the death of her husband, she is highly stressed and barely keeping it together. On the surface she is warm and caring, but has a wild passionate side. JESSICA – 17 (to be played by an actor 18+). A seemingly shy outsider with a dry sense of humor and subtly, sweet disposition. She has a definite sense of right and wrong and, if pushed, isn't afraid to fiercely speak her mind and hold her ground. PASTOR GREG – 40’s. Dutiful church pastor. Tries very hard to be the manly, father figure, but is in fact a bit of a buffoon. His wholesome, small-town charm masks his lust and love for Margery. ________ THE ROYALE by Marco Ramirez Directed by Stuart Carden First rehearsal 12/27 Tech 1/17 - 1/20/17 Previews 1/21 - 1/26/17 Runs: 1/27 - 2/12 SEEKING: JAY – 30s, African American. A boxer. The Negro Heavyweight Champion, and he knows he’s the best there is. Charismatic, strong, confident and ready to take on the world against all odds. WYNTON – 50’s, African-American. Jay’s trainer. His boxing knowledge makes him a hugely valuable asset to Jay, who is his mentee. Confident and noble, but knows exactly how the world works and accepts his lot in life. NINA – 30’s, African-American. Jay’s fierce big sister. Strong willed, intimidating, and not afraid to wear her past on her sleeve. FISH – 18, African-American. An amateur boxer with youthful energy and curiosity. He knows he’s pretty good, but still seeks validation. MAX – 40’s, Caucasian. A fight promoter and referee. Tries to act like he’s in charge, but is easily intimidated by the talent he manages. Tech 3/7 - 3/10 Previews 3/11 - 3/16 Runs: 3/17 - 4/2 SEEKING: HENRY/REMBRANDT – 50’s-60’s. Henry is a dutiful museum guard. Bookish, kindhearted, grieving but in denial. Rembrandt is the famous painter. Brilliant, captivating, grumpy yet genuinely soft-hearted. DODGER/TITUS – 13 to 24 (actor 18+) Dodger is training to be a guard. Subversive, intriguing, funny. Titus is Rembrandt’s son. Clever, curious, loves his father, pragmatic. MADELINE/HENNY – 20’s. Madeline is an art student. Forthright, grieving, sensitive and sweet, but not afraid to argue. Henny is Rembrandt’s partner. Loving, practical, grounded. JONNY/MARTIN – 30’s-40’s. Jonny is a museum guard. Military background, big-hearted, funny, caring in his way. Martin is a hospice care nurse. He is a strong, knowing, gentle giant. SIMON/HOMER – 60’s-70’s. Simon is Henry’s husband. A poet with an inherent grace, sense of humor, and strong will. Homer is the ancient poet. A visionary. Crude, crazy, brilliant. __________ WILD WITH HAPPY by Colman Domingo Directed by Reginald L. Douglas First rehearsal 3/14/17 Tech 4/4 - 4/7 Previews 4/8 - 4/13 Runs: 4/14 - 5/7 SEEKING: GIL – 30’s-40’s, African-American. Sardonic, fiercely intelligent, biting sense of humor. The kind of person who uses comedy and sass to cope with their frustrations and fears. Versatility, nuance and captivating presence required. ADELAIDE/AUNT GLO – 40’s-50’s, African-American, actor must be able to play 30-60. Actor shifts from the fairy godmother to the evil step-mother. Wide range of kind and good-natured to hell on wheels. Versatility, nuance and captivating presence required. TERRY and others – 30’s, African-American. Prince Charming. A good looking, very bright spirit. Sensitive, gentle, kindhearted. Versatility and nuance required. MO and others – 30’s-40’s, African-American. A fierce and magical fairy. Fabulous, vain, and sassy. Masculine-looking and well built, with a dash of ‘lady.’ Versatility and nuance required. ________ IRONBOUND by Martyna Majok Directed by Tracy Brigden First rehearsal 4/18/17 Tech 5/9 - 5/12 Previews 5/13 - 5/18 Runs: 5/19 - 6/4/17 SEEKING: DARJA – 30’s-40’s, Polish, actor must be able to play 20’s-40’s. Resilient, equal parts strong-willed and stubborn, the world has dealt her a difficult hand, but she has become stronger for it. Slavic accent. TOMMY – 30’s-40’s, American. A postal worker, ladies’ man, charmer. Not exactly a stand up guy, although he likes to pretend he is one. When backed into a corner, he shows his true colors, and they’re not so nice. MAX –20’s-30’s, Polish. Musician, dreamer, Darja’s first husband. Wants a better life, but sees the many obstacles in his way. Slavic accent.
VIC – teenager (actor 18+), American. Preppy teenager and wannabe hustler, kind soul,
in need of a good friend.
