CINDERELLA
ELLA- (20s-30s, Female-identifying, Mezzo-Soprano B3 - Eb5, Any Ethnicity) Although she goes through life unnoticed in her rags and her quiet demeanor, this beautiful dreamer exudes warmth, charisma, kindness, intelligence, and humor. She is passionate, idealistic, and hopeful as she courageously challenges the prince to change the policies in his kingdom. She sees the good in everyone despite her hardships and she blossoms into a confident woman. (Moves well)
TOPHER- (20s-30s, Male-identifying, Baritenor C#3 - A4, Any Ethnicity) A brave, heroic prince who feels lost, lonely, unfulfilled, lacking in purpose. He is charming, appealing, yet innocent and a bit on the goofy side. This young prince is a genuine kindhearted man who learns how to take control of his kingdom and his future. (Moves well)
MADAME- (40s-50s, Alto C4 - D5, Any Ethnicity) Ella’s vain, selfish stepmother. A ravenous social climber who values wealth, status, and material possessions above all else, even using their own daughters to get what they want, while being cruel and dismissive of Ella. Strong comic timing.
SEBASTIAN- (40s-50s, Male-identifying, Baritone C3 - F4, Any Ethnicity) The kingdom’s Lord Chancellor and Topher’s trusted advisor. Devious and selfish, using propaganda and dishonesty, he keeps Topher in the dark about the state of his kingdom. He has no regard for the lower class or anyone else and believes in himself as the deserving ruler of the kingdom. Excellent comic timing.
MARIE- (40s-50s, Female-identifying, Mezzo-Soprano A3 - Ab5, Any Ethnicity) The town resident crazy lady/ beggar woman and friend to Ella. Marie is actually a fairy godmother in disguise. Wise, warm, otherworldly, and charming, she rewards Ella for her kindness by making her dreams a reality.
GABRIELLE- (20s-30s, Mezzo-Soprano C4 - G5, Any Ethnicity) Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. At first, she/they unenthusiastically joins her/their sister and mother in their abrasive behavior as they all strive to acquire material wealth and social status. This quietly passionate, witty young person becomes drawn to Jean Michel and empathetic to Ella as she/they realizes that she does not fit in with her family. Comic timing.
CHARLOTTE- (20s-30s, Female-identifying, Mezzo-Soprano B3 - F5, Any Ethnicity) Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. Brash, self-centered, materialistic, snooty, loud, sassy, bratty, she has a ridiculously high, but unfounded opinion of herself and always wants to be the center of attention. Excellent comic timing.
JEAN-MICHEL- (30s, Male-identifying, Tenor C3 - G4, Any Ethnicity) A feisty, passionate peasant determined to make a change for the starving class. Impetuous, but lacks authority. Has a crush on Gabrielle, although their courtship is forbidden due to their different social classes. Good comic timing.
LORD PINKELTON- (30s-40s, Male-identifying, Tenor D3 - A4, Any Ethnicity) the Lord Chancellor’s right hand man. Announces royal balls, banquets, and even the weather to the villagers. Excellent comic timing.
ENSEMBLE: Adult singers, dancers, and tumblers who make up the ensemble of Cinderella. A wide range of ages, types, and ethnicities who portray various characters, including knights, peasants, ladies and gentlemen of the court, footman, coachman, servants.
