BREAKDOWN

CHARLES DICKEN'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL

NOTE: Please note all performers will be cast in a listed primary role and ensemble/doubling with additional minor roles will be assigned throughout the rehearsal process.

SEEKING:

Christmas Past/Ensemble (S1): Female or NB, late 20s-30s. An ethereal presence from a ghostly plane, kindly but firm.

Marley’s Ghost/Ensemble (Baritone): Male, 50s-60s. Scrooge’s old business partner, back to haunt him into changing his ways; carries a great weight.

Fred/Ensemble (T2, C3-F4): Male, late 20s-30s. Scrooge’s delightful nephew who is filled with the spirit of the season, wants his Uncle to embrace the joy of Christmas, adoring husband, very playful, competitive, strong lungs.

Bob Cratchit/Ensemble (Baritone): Male, late 30s-early 40s. Sweet soft-hearted gentleman, father of older teens, children, including the ailing Tiny Tim who is the love of his life. Works at Scrooge’s counting house, long-suffering but hides it well.

Fezziwig/Ensemble (T1, should sing comfortably to Ab4): Male, 40s-60s. A jolly middle-aged gent who knows how to throw a party, make everyone laugh and feel welcome.

Mrs. Fezziwig/Ensemble (S1, D4-D5 with optional cadenza to D6): Female, late 30s-60s. A jolly show-off type of lady with a powerful presence. She is the embodiment of living in the moment, a Dionysia with a heart of gold.

Topper/Ensemble (Baritone, C3-D4): Male or NB, 30s. Playful, competitive friend of Fred’s, strong lungs, loves party games, a little skeptical about Fred’s Uncle Scrooge. Especially looking for a tall person here, but will consider all!

Catherine/Ensemble (S2, sings comfortably to A5): Female, 20s-40s. Elizabeth’s friend and Topper’s wife. Loves party games. NOTE: A plus if this actor plays an instrument (violin, etc.) Strong ensemble skills requiring complicated harmonies.

Belle/Ensemble (Alto): Female, 20s. A lovely young woman with great strength of character. Is able to tell hard truths to Young Scrooge that he sadly cannot/will not hear. NOTE: Strong ensemble skills for complicated harmonies.
