Prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues. Total audition time should be no more than 2 minutes.
Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

JENNIE MALONE
mid to late 30s - an actress. Very organized and capable. Recently divorced.
LEO SCHNEIDER
late 30s - early 40s. George's brother. Very outgoing, trying to persuade George to quit grieving and move on to relationships with other women. His humor and bravado mask the fact that his own marriage is troubled.
FAYE MEDWICK
thirties. A suburban wife struggling with a lonely marriage. Jennie's best friend. Funny, self deprecating and clever.

MYRA BRUHL
40s
Sidney’s devoted, self-effacing wife. She remains supportive and continues to believe in her husband’s talents despite his lack of success. She and Sidney have been living on her inheritance since he is unable to earn money from his writing.
CLIFFORD
20s – early 30s
A young ambitious playwright who approaches Sidney to work with him on a play.
Handsome, charming and keen to succeed at any cost.

50s-60s
A psychic. Wild and gypsy-like. Brave.
PORTER

MASHA
his sister, 50s, glamorous and successful actress who goes gallivanting around the world. ROLE IS CAST.
SPIKE
an aspiring actor, 29 or younger, sexy, self-absorbed, Masha’s new companion.
NINA
lovely, sincere would be actress, early 20s, visiting her aunt and uncle next door. Star struck and energetic.
CASSANDRA
cleaning lady and soothsayer, any age, any race. In the original production, she was played by an African American actress in her late 20s.
