Rehearsals Begin: May 31, 2022

CHARLIE PRICE: Male identifying, 25-35, tenor (D3 – B4). Charlie is young, handsome, lovable, and tasked with saving the family shoe business after his father’s death. Unsure of what he wants to do with the rest of his life or how to save the factory, he finds a solution in Lola. Charlie comes across as passive and henpecked by his fiancée, but he has a mild temper and becomes a reluctant hero. Sings: “Step One”, “Soul of a Man,” and “Everybody Say Yeah.”
LOLA/SIMON: Black, male, 30s, tenor (D#3 – C#5). A drag queen, Lola is a star that feels as comfortable in a beaded gown and heels as she does wearing boxing gloves in the ring. A charismatic performer with an amazing voice, she is brutally honest, guarded, and always puts her own concerns first. Charlie breaks through her emotional armor when he gives her a chance to be a designer. Sings: “The Land of Lola,” “Sex Is in the Heel,” and “Raise You Up.”
LAUREN: Female identifying, 20s, alto belt (Bb3 – D5). She is a smart, witty, and determined working-class woman and Charlie’s ally in saving the shoe factory. Dynamic and brutally honest, Lauren has had trouble with men but may have found the right one in Charlie. Sings: “The History of Bad Guys.”
NICOLA: Female identifying, 20s, alto / soprano mix (E3 – F5). Engaged to Charlie, Nicola is single-minded and determined to get what she wants. She is strong-willed and has high expectations of her future. Sings: “The Most Beautiful Thing In the World.”
DON: Male identifying, 30s-40s, high baritone (A2 – D4). Don’s a burly, masculine, working-class factory worker. He is a bully who is intimidated by Lola and all the changes at the shoe factory.
GEORGE: Male identifying, 40s-50s, bass / baritone (G#2 – F4). George is a reserved and tightly wound factory manager who has trouble letting go of traditions.
CAROUSEL
Rehearsals Begin: June 14, 2022

BILLY BIGELOW: Male identifying, 25-35, baritone (Bb2 – G4). Handsome and charming, Billy is a carousel barker who attracts all the local women. He is a deeply troubled man whose bad decisions cost him his life. He seeks to convey his love for his wife and daughter in the afterlife in a way he never did while alive. Sings: “If I Loved You,” “Soliloquy,” and “The Highest Judge of All.”
JULIE JORDAN: Female identifying, 20s, soprano (Bb3 – G5). A shy but resilient young mill worker, Julie defies the warnings about Billy, falls in love and marries him. Despite her affection, she cannot save Billy from his vices and tragedy. Sings: “If I Loved You” and “What’s the Use of Wond’rin?”
CARRIE PIPPERIDGE: Female identifying, 20s, soprano (C#4 – G5). A sweet-natured mill worker, Carrie’s prudish naiveté provides comic relief for her more serious friend Julie. She intends to marry Enoch Snow and start a family if she can just get out of her own way. Sings: “Mister Snow,” “When The Children Are Asleep,” and “A Real Nice Clambake.”
STARKEEPER: Any gender identity, 40s-60s. A heavenly figure, the Starkeeper helps Billy return to Earth to discover the error of his ways.
MRS. MULLIN: Female identifying, 40s-50s. Mrs. Mullin owns the carousel and is Billy’s boss. Harboring love for Billy, she is jealous of all the young women he attracts and fires him when he marries Julie.
JIGGER CRAIGIN: Male identifying, 25-35, baritone (B2 – E4). A sleazy whaler who manipulates Billy into partnering in a robbery but is nowhere to be found when plans go awry. Jigger must have a dangerous quality. Sings: “Blow High, Blow Low” and “Stonecutters Cut It On Stone.”
NETTIE FOWLER: Female identifying, 35-55, soprano (C4-G5). Julie’s older, wiser, and big-hearted cousin, Nettie owns the local seaside spa and is a motherly figure in the community. She takes in Julie and Billy after they are married, and Billy is unemployed. Sings: “June is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
ENOCH SNOW: Male identifying, 30s-40s, legit tenor (B2 – A4). Enoch is a fisherman with big plans to become a tycoon. He intends to marry Carrie and has their whole life planned out. He is a bit stuffy but a family man at heart. Sings: “When The Children Are Asleep” and “Geraniums In The Winder.”
MR. BASCOMBE: Male identifying, 40s-60s. The strict owner of the local mill, he is the richest man in town and well-respected.
HEAVENLY FRIEND: Any gender identity, 30s-50s. They guide Billy to Heaven’s gate and tell him difficult truths that he needs to hear.
LOUISE: Female identifying, late teens. Billy and Julie’s teenage daughter, she is headstrong and defiant, much like her father. She has been teased her whole life because of Billy. Strong classical and musical theater dance training required with extensive partnering skills.
CARNIVAL BOY: Male identifying, 20s. A member of a passing carnival, the young man reminds Louise of her father. Strong classical and musical theater dance training required with extensive partnering skills.
KISS ME, KATE

FRED GRAHAM/PETRUCHIO: Male identifying, 40-50, baritone (Bb2 – F#4). He is the actor, producer, and director of a musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming Of The Shrew. Fred has charisma and a big ego. He is Lilli’s ex-husband and much like his character, Petruchio, enjoys sparring with his leading lady. Sings: “Wunderbar,” “Were Thine That Special Face,” and “Where Is That Life I Late Led?”
LILLI VANESSI/KATHERINE: Female identifying, 40-50, soprano (A3 – Bb5). Lilli is the leading lady and a veteran diva of stage and screen. She is proud and haughty, much like her character, Katherine, in The Taming Of The Shrew. However, underneath her temper and wit, she also has a vulnerable side. She is Fred’s ex-wife and engaged to General Harrison Howell. Sings: “Wunderbar,” “I Hate Men,” and “So In Love.”
BILL CALHOUN/LUCENTIO: Male identifying, 20-30, baritone (G2-F4). Bill is a magnetic Broadway performer with a gambling problem that always leads to trouble. He loves Lois Lane but can’t trust her around other men. An excellent singer and dancer. Sings: “Why Can’t You Behave” and “We Open in Venice.”
LOIS LANE/BIANCA: Female identifying, 20s, alto belt with soprano mix (G3 – F5). Lois is a nightclub dancer with dreams of being on Broadway. The consummate ingénue, what she lacks in knowledge she makes up for with her sultry charisma. She is dating Bill but often strays. Sings: “Tom, Dick or Harry” and “Always True To You In My Fashion.”
HARRY TREVOR/BAPTISTA: Male identifying, 50s-60s. He is a veteran actor who mostly appears in The Taming Of The Shrewscenes as Katherine and Bianca’s father, Baptista.
HATTIE: Female identifying, 30s-40s, alto belt with soprano mix (G3 – Ab5). Hattie is Lilli’s dresser, confidante, and her eyes and ears backstage. She has an ongoing flirtation with Paul. Sings: “Another Op’nin’, Another Show” and “Too Darn Hot.”
PAUL: Male identifying, 20s-30s, high baritone (C3 - F#4). Paul is Fred’s dresser and his most trusted friend. He remains cool despite all the backstage craziness. An excellent dancer. Sings, “Too Darn Hot.”
FIRST MAN: Male identifying, 30s-50s, baritone (B2 – D4). Runyon-like gangster who loves his job and learned to appreciate Shakespeare after many visits to the prison library. Sings: “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”
SECOND MAN: Male identifying, 30s-50s, baritone (B2 – D4). Like the First Man but a little more the strong, silent type. Sings: “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”
HARRISON HOWELL: Male identifying, 40-60, baritone (B2 – F4). Howell is a decorated and distinguished General of the U.S. Army with political ties to the White House. Engaged to Lilli, he enjoys rigid discipline and patriarchal chauvinism. He does not fit into the world of the theatre. Sings: “From This Moment On.”
SOMETHING ROTTEN
Rehearsals begin: July 12, 2022
Performances: July 26 – July 31, 2022
NICK BOTTOM: Male identifying, 30-40, high baritone (Bb2 – G4). An English Renaissance playwright sick of all the attention Shakespeare receives. He is looking for one big hit and will go to any lengths to get it. Great comedic timing. Taps. Sings: “God, I Hate Shakespeare,” “A Musical,” and “Bottom’s Gonna Be On Top.”
NIGEL BOTTOM: Male identifying, 25-35, tenor (Bb2 – G#4). Nick’s brother, also a writer and a poet, who lacks conviction and always goes along with what his brother wants. He is awkward and naïve but finds a kindred spirit in Portia, whose love and admiration for him gives him the confidence he was lacking. Sings: “I Love the Way,” “We See the Light,” and “To Thine Own Self Be True.”
SHAKESPEARE: Male identifying, 30-40, high baritone (Ab2 – A4). The Bard. A Renaissance Rock Star with swagger. Shakespeare is over-the-top, cocky, and very interested in what his rivals, the Bottom brothers, are up to. Taps. Sings: “Will Power” and “Hard to Be the Bard.”
THOMAS NOSTRADAMUS: Male identifying, 40s-50s, high baritone (C3 – G#4). A screwball soothsayer and nephew of the infamous Nostradamus. Thomas has the gift of seeing the future, but not always accurately. He predicts that Nick and Nigel will write a musical. Sings: “A Musical” and “Make an Omelette.”
BEA: Female identifying, 30s, alto (Ab3 – D5). Nick’s loving and long-suffering wife. She defies 16th century gender roles by dressing as a man so she can take odd jobs to prove she can help support her family. Sings: “Right Hand Man.”
PORTIA: Female identifying, 20s-30s, mezzo-soprano (G3 – F5). An unorthodox Puritan, Portia has a penchant for poetry, Shakespeare, and defying her father. After meeting Nigel on the street, she falls deeply in love with him over their shared mutual interests. Sings: “I Love the Way” and “We See the Light.”
BROTHER JEREMIAH: Male identifying, 40s-50s, tenor (F3 – G4). Portia’s father, Brother Jeremiah is a devout Puritan who hates all forms of pleasure, especially poetry and theater. He consistently phrases his sentences inappropriately. Sings: “We See the Light.”
LORD CLAPHAM / MASTER OF THE JUSTICE: Male identifying, 50s-60s. A flamboyant and posh theatre producer who demands a new idea from Nick and Nigel. Sings: “Bottom’s Gonna Be on Top.”
SHYLOCK: Male identifying, 50s-60s. An older Jewish man, Shylock loves theater and invests in Nick and Nigel’s musical. Sings: “Bottom’s Gonna Be on Top.”
THE SECRET GARDEN

LILY: Female identifying, 25-30, lyrical soprano (Bb3 – D6). Archibald’s late wife, Colin’s Mother, and Mary’s aunt. While alive, Lily was a loving and nurturing presence, and her ghost now watches over her husband, son, and niece. Sings: “I Heard Someone Crying,” “Come to My Garden,” and “How Could I Ever Know?”
MARY LENNOX: Female identifying girl, age 10, child soprano (Ab3 – G5). Raised in India, Mary lost her parents to cholera leaving her bewildered and alone. Now an orphan, she is sent to live with her uncle and only relative, Archibald Craven. Mary is precocious and demanding yet has a warmth that helps rejuvenate the many inhabitants of her uncle’s manor. Sings: “I Heard Someone Crying” and “The Girl I Mean to Be”
ARCHIBALD CRAVEN: Male identifying, 35-50, tenor (C3 – A4). Archibald is Mary’s uncle and the master of Misselthwaite Manor. He lost his wife Lily in childbirth, which has left him an unhappy and reclusive man. He is unable to overcome the loss and has allowed his life and estate to go dormant. Sings: “A Bit of Earth,” “Lily’s Eyes,” and “How Could I Ever Know?”
DR. NEVILLE CRAVEN: Male identifying, 30-45, high baritone (C3 – F#4). Embittered and lonely, Neville is Archibald’s younger brother and a physician. Overly concerned for his brother and his nephew’s health, Neville was also taken with his sister-in-law Lily’s charms. Sings: “Lily’s Eyes” and “Disappear.”
BEN WEATHERSTAFF: Male identifying, 45-65, baritone (E3 – D#4). Ben is the dedicated and loyal gardener of Misselthwaite Manor. A curmudgeon, his love for the late Lily leads him to protect her memory by tending to her garden. Sings: “It’s a Maze.”
MARTHA: Female identifying, early 20s, alto with soprano mix (F3 – G5). Housemaid for the manor, Martha becomes Mary’s friend. Full of heart, she is feisty and knows how to inspire and bring the best out in Mary. Sings: “A Fine White Horse,” and “Hold On.”
DICKON: Male identifying, early 20s, tenor (C3 – G4). A charismatic and tender young man, Dickon is Martha’s younger brother. Earthy and mystical, he teaches Mary to appreciate nature and the world around her. Sings: “Winter’s on the Wing,” and “Wick.”
MRS. MEDLOCK: Female identifying, 40-55. Medlock is the housekeeper of the Misselthwaite Manor and runs the house with a stern, businesslike demeanor, much in keeping with her cold and severe temperament.
COLIN: Male identifying boy, 10-11, child soprano (A3 – E5). Archibald’s son and Mary’s cousin. Believed to be ill, he is sequestered in the upper floors of the manor and grows bitter in his isolation. Once he meets Mary, Colin reveals his sweet-natured side and learns to overcome his illness. Sings: “Round-Shouldered Man,” and “Come to My Garden.”
THE COLOR PURPLE
Rehearsals Begin: August 9, 2022
Performances: August 23 – August 28, 2022
CELIE: Black, female identifying, 20s-30s, soprano / alto mix with high chest range (E3 – G5). She is at times vulnerable, spirited, and introspective but also carries a strength that guides her through life’s troubles. An observer, Celie can come across as passive but possesses a strong, hard soul. She believes she is unattractive due to years of mistreatment until she breaks away to find love and independence. Sings: “What About Love” and “I’m Here.”
NETTIE: Black, female identifying, 20s-30s, soprano / alto mix (F3 – E5). Celie’s sister, Nettie is attractive, adventurous, and educated. She shares a deep bond with her sister that remains even when Mister forces her to leave Celie and cuts off their communication for years. Sings: “Our Prayer.”
MISTER: Black, male identifying, 30s-40s, high baritone (G2 – Ab4). Mister, whose real name is Albert, is a handsome and domineering man capable of brutal behavior. He is married to Celie, abuses her, and is infatuated with Shug. He is a victim of his circumstances and eventually softens. Sings: “Big Dog” and “Mister’s Song.”
SOFIA: Black, female identifying, 30s-40s, alto (E3 – D5). A force to be reckoned with, Sofia does not let anyone mistreat her. She is comfortable with who she is and her body and is very sensual. Sofia has a wicked sense of humor and a tender side that she tries to hide. She dominates her husband, Harpo. Sings: “Hell No!” and “Any Little Thing.”
HARPO: Black, male identifying, 20s-30s, tenor (C3 – B4). Mister’s son, Harpo is good-hearted but often confused about the things going on around him. He represents the new generation. He is unable to get his wife Sofia to obey him the way Celie obeys Mister. Sings: “Brown Betty” and “Any Little Thing.”
SHUG AVERY: Black, female identifying, 30s-40s, alto (E3 – Eb5). A popular star, Shug is independent and dynamic. She is straightforward and extremely attractive. Loved by both Celie and Mister, she helps Celie find her voice. Her beauty and charm mask her frailty. Sings: “Push Da Button” and “What About Love?”
