Berkeley Repertory Theatre is a LORT B theatre committed to an inclusive casting policy of non-traditional casting and encourages all actors to audition regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, or the presence of a disability.
Available roles in Amelie: *All actors should possess an off center sense of humor and huge smarts. Extremely interested in all ethnicities & body types. All roles must sing well.
ROLES ALREADY CAST: AMELIE NINO
SEEKING: Young Amelie (8-10 year old girl) Highly imaginative, intelligent, quirky & independent. She tends to see the best in most people and situations. Should have a grounded, non-show biz energy. Must sing extremely well.
Gnome/Blind Beggar/Ensemble (Male. 20’s-30’s) Gnome – a garden gnome who longs to see the world. Blind Beggar – receives an unexpected, high octane, tour of the city.
Raphael/Bretodeaux/Ensemble (Male. M30’s-L40’s) Raphael – Amelie’s father. An orderly Army physician who finds his daughter totally incomprehensible. Bretodeaux – A middle aged man with regrets.
Amandine/Philomene/Ensemble (Female. M30’s-L40’s) Amandine – Amelie’s mother. A neurotic school teacher who finds her daughter incomprehensible. Philomene – An airline hostess and former waitress at Two Windmills.
Fluffy/Georgette/Sylvie/Ensemble (Female. 30’s-40’s) Fluffy – a goldfish and Amelie’s best friend. Georgette – A hypochondriacal tobacconist at Two Windmills. Sylvie – a sex shop worker.
Gina/Eva/Ensemble (Female. L20’s-E40’s) Gina – A waitress at Two Windmills and former girlfriend of Joseph. Eva – a sex shop worker.
Suzanne/Collignon's Mother/Ensemble (Female, 40s-50s) Suzanne – Owner of Two Windwills. She’s seen it all. One of her legs is shorter than the other. Collignon's Mother - a paranoid know it all.
MALE & FEMALE ENSEMBLE (20’s-40’s) Seeking inventive, unique, quirky, outside-the-box singer/actor/movers to play various roles including: a garden gnome, a sex shop worker, an OCD stricken grocer, a goldfish, a hypochondriacal tobacconist & an elderly recluse; among others. Extremely interested in actors of all ethnicities, shapes and sizes. If interested please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary music theatre song that shows off personality and voice. A pianist will be provided. No a cappella auditions.

A naturalized citizen who was once a refugee. BOY: Ray at the age of eight. CORNELIA: 28. Korean-American. Born in Korea, raised mostly in America. Fluent Korean. STRANGER/UNCLE: Late 50s. Korean, fluent Korean speaker. Note: Both Ray’s Father and Ray’s Uncle play themselves as younger men.

Available roles in Treasure Island: This will be a cast of 10 with 3 musicians. There is no script yet. Seeing all ages, ethnicities, types, etc.
