[LOUIS IRONSON]
Mid 20s – Mid 30s. Male. Caucasian. Jewish. Works as a court clerk in Brooklyn. Incredibly intelligent, neurotic, anxious and full of self-loathing and guilt. Louis abandons his lover Prior when Prior reveals he has AIDS. Actor also plays The Angel Australia.
[PRIOR WALTER]
Mid20s – Mid30s. Male. Caucasian. Louis’ waspy boyfriend, he works as a club designer/caterer but otherwise lives off of a trust fund. Extremely charismatic and bitingly witty, he is also frail, intense and vulnerable. Actor also plays The Man in the Park.
[ROY M. COHN]
50s – 60s. Male. Caucasian. Jewish. An influential and successful New York lawyer and powerbroker. Extremely smart, cunning and tremendously vicious. Roy’s hatred and denial of most everything in his life, including his battle with AIDS, isolates him further and further from the community around him. A closeted homosexual, he is full of hate and bile. Actor also plays Prior 2 and The Angel Antarctica.
[JOSEPH PORTER PITT]
Mid 20s – Mid 30s. Male. Caucasian. Mormon. Married to Harper, he is an incredibly handsome, Republican lawyer who is deeply closeted. Actor also plays Prior 1, The Eskimo, The Father, The Angel Europa.
[HARPER AMATY PITT]
Mid 20s – Mid 30s. Female. Caucasian. Joe’s wife. An agoraphobic with an addiction to Valium. Perpetually fearful, in order to cope with her failing marriage, Harper hallucinates and invents imaginary characters to escape her troubles. Actor also plays Martin Heller and The Angel Africanii.
[BELIZE]
Mid 20s – Late 30s. Male. African-American. A registered nurse and former drag queen, Belize is Prior’s best friend and Roy’s caretaker. Extremely stylish with a personality to match, he is all flair. Actor also plays Mr. Lies, The Angel Oceania, and the voice of Caleb.
[THE ANGEL]
30s – 50s. Female. Any Ethnicity. An imposing, terrifying, divine presence who descends from Heaven to bestow prophecy on Prior. A force to be reckoned with, she is powerful, forceful and full of intensity. Actor also plays Emily, Sister Ella Chapter, Homeless Woman, and the voices of Orrin and The Mormon Mother.
