An Ideal Husband is Oscar Wilde's 1895 comedic play about the dark secrets hidden behind the glossy trappings of society and high politics. A play of manners. Actors must play the affectations of high Victorian society with ease and grace. British accent required. All ethnicities will be considered. Please submit for only one role.
Lord Chiltern: (m) 30-40, Rising political star. An ideal husband with a dark secret.
Lady Chiltern: (f) 25-35, Chiltern's wife. A woman of exceeding moral fibre.
Lord Goring: (m) 30-40, A flawless Dandy with the soul of philosopher. A true friend
Lord Caversham: (m) 60+, Gentleman of the old guard. Goring's disapproving father.
Mrs Chevely: (f) 30-40, Graceful, cosmopolitan schemer. Ruthless.
Lady Markby: (f) 50+, Pleasant, kindly woman. Verbose.
Mabel Chiltern: (f) 18-29, Clever, frivolous young English Lady. Chiltern's sister.
