Please prepare two contrasting pieces of musical theatre. You should time your pieces so that you land at 3 minutes (give or take 15 seconds). Please prepare one of your audition songs as a spoken monologue to give you an opportunity to showcase your storytelling in spoken text.

Ariel: A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kindhearted. Vocal range top: Gb5. Vocal range bottom: Ab3.
Prince Eric: A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: B2
Grimsby: Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage. Vocal range top: C4. Vocal range bottom: C3
Flounder: A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: A2
Scuttle: A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: C3
King Triton: King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: Ab2
Sebastian: A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: Bb2
Flotsam: An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: E3
Jetsam: An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Vocal range top: A4. Vocal range bottom: B2
Ursula: The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: Eb3
Chef Louis: The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular. Vocal range top: A4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2
Ensemble: Crew Members (Pilot, Sailors); Sea Creatures; Mersisters (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana); Gulls; Maids; Chefs; Animals; Princesses

Bob Wallace: Late 20s-30s. Easy going, and smooth. A major singing star, Bob wears his fame easily and is a born leader, but he has trouble with social and romantic interactions. Despite his occasional gruffness, he is a deeply kind and principled man who is searching for true love. A superb singer with a crooning style who dances (tap and jazz) very well. Baritone.
Phil Davis: Late 20s-30s. Funny flirty and a real go getter. An eccentric irrepressible clown with a boyish goofy charm and sex appeal. He is a comic and a very strong jazz and tap-dancer.
Betty Haynes: Late 20s-mid 30s. A knockout singer with quiet beauty and charm sometimes hidden by a cold protective shell. Betty is the sensible and responsible Haynes Sister. Destined to be a star in her own right, she is nonetheless hesitant to take the spotlight for herself. A rich chest mix sound with a soprano extension. Moves well.
Judy Haynes: Late 20s. Perky red headed singer dancer with charm and wit. The younger, more ambitious, slightly scheming Haynes sister. While wholesome and adorable, she is sexy, flirty and irresistible. Strong jazz and tap needed, Judy is a major song-and-dance performer. Chest Mix.
General Henry Waverly: Late 50s to 60s. Strict, stubborn and often uptight. A retired U.S. Army General, adjusting to civilian life in post-World War II America. Once a powerful leader, he now struggles to run an Inn in Vermont. He remains a man of great principle and dignity. Beneath his curmudgeonly military exterior lies a warm, compassionate man in need of family and love.
Martha Watson: (late 40’s to mid-60’s) – A winning, appealing character-comedienne with a dry, wry, wisecracking sense of humor and a huge clarion belt voice. Martha was once a Broadway star. Now, she runs the Inn and the General's life in spite of his protestations. She is bighearted but completely unsentimental and she can’t help meddling.
Susan Waverly: 10 years old. A very intelligent and intellectual youngster with an excellent belt voice. Susan is the General's granddaughter. She is lovable, outgoing and a real kid who is wise beyond her years. She idolizes her grandfather and gets bit by the showbiz bug, blossoming into a show-stopping child singer dancer.
Ralph Sheldrake: 30s (mid to late 30's). A comic, fast-talking, New York show business “operator.” Sheldrake is the Army buddy of Bob and Phil, and now a major television executive with the Ed Sullivan Show.
Rita: Mid 20s – early 30s. One of Bob and Phil's two-star chorus girls. A classic 50s showgirl. Brash, bright, fun. Rita enjoys life. In the 50s she had what was called a “Va Va Voom” figure.
Rhoda: Mid 20s – early 30s. The other one of Bob and Phil's two-star chorus girls and Rita's side kick –Brash, bright, fun. Rhoda enjoys life. In the 50s she had what was called a “Va Va Voom” figure.
Ezekiel Foster: The oldest man in New England with great comic timing with simple and endearing dance skills.
Mr. Snoring Man/Mike Nulty/General U/S: Comic character man who plays multiple roles. Mike is Bob and Phil’s stage manager. He has a tendency to be over-dramatic and completely hysterical, but will get things done. Never seen without his whistle and clipboard, which he uses to attempt to keep order.
Mrs. Snoring Man/Sheldrake’s Sec./Tessie/Martha U/S: 40s Comic character woman - 40.
Tessie: (late 20’s to 30’s) Young Character woman. Bob and Phil’s secretary, also Head Seamstress and Mrs. Snoring Man, winter tourist. Mezzo-soprano, belter.

These characters are all the typical denizens of a drawing room murder mystery- think every murder mystery trope from Miss Marple, Poirot, Sherlock Holmes to Glass Onion combined into a comedic tour de force. All roles in this production will be understudied. Some characters may be doubled. We are also looking for O/S Swings.
Lettie: The saucy maid (Cockney) (lured into giant vase and gets eaten by a serpent)- Alto Flint: The caretaker (Cockney) (killed in accidental gas explosion)- Tenor
Clive: The butler (death by exploding balustrade)- Bass
Hope Langdon: The Ingenue (drinks poisoned wine intended for Flint)- Soprano Dr. Grayburn: The family doctor (asphyxiated by gas concealed in telephone)- Tenor Nigel Rancour: The black sheep nephew (coshed in the bonce by a sconce)- Tenor Lady Grace Manley: Prowde - The Grande Dame (electrocuted by light switch)- Alto
Colonel Gillweather: The old army man (poisoned by blowgun dart; lives long enough to analyze the poison)- Bass
Miss Tweed: The tweedy, elderly amateur detective (strangled by ornamental spear)- Soprano Geoffrey: The juvenile; the uninvited guest (drinks poisoned wine intended for Flint)- Tenor
Seeking:
CONTENT WARNING: Spring Awakening is a world wherein several tough subjects are explored. While this production will endeavor to handle these subjects with great care, please be advised: this play contains violence, sexual assault, simulated sex, suicide, child abuse, bullying, teen pregnancy, and death.
CASTING NOTE: Although the students in this play are young teenagers– the explicit material within the play requires actors to be at least 18 years old at the time of the audition in order to be considered. All roles in this production will be understudied. Some characters may be doubled. We are also looking for O/S Swings.
Wendla: Female or female identifying of any ethnicity. 14 years old. An impassioned young girl that is awakening to her sexuality and the harsh realities of the world. She journeys through the consequences of new passions in a closed society. Falls in love with Melchior. Violent situations and simulated sexual acts are a part of this role. Mezzo-Soprano.
Martha: Female, female identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. An intelligent, kind, and strong young woman that is made fun of for liking the less popular boys. She is beaten and sexually abused by her father, but is scared to be an outcast or kicked out of her home if she tells anyone. Mezzo-Soprano.
Thea: Female, female identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. She is sweet, energetic, and developing small crushes on boys like Melchior, but still trusting of her parents and the systems around her. Mezzo-Soprano.
Anna: Female, female identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. She is lively and more free spirited than her friends. They have a deeper understanding of the injustices happening. She wants to tell someone about Martha’s father, but is convinced by the girls not to. Mezzo-Soprano.
Ilse: Female, female identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. She was abused by her father and cast out on the streets. She is bold and upbeat despite her circumstances. She is living in an artist colony and stuck in a new cycle of abuse. She and Moritz could have had a relationship in another life. Mezzo-Soprano.
Melchior: Male, or male identifying of any ethnicity. 14 years old. An intelligent, rebellious, and caring young man that passionately disagrees with the systems of power in command. He falls in love with Wendla. Violent situations and simulated sex are a part of this role. Baritone.
Moritz: Male, male identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. Melchior’s best friend. An anxious, sweet, and sensitive young man who is struggling through this time of new awakenings. Bad at school, deeply affected by new desires, and trying to live up to high expectations from his parents end up being too much for him, so he decides to end his life. Simulated suicide is a part of this role. Tenor.
Hanschen/Rupert: Male, male identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. A confident, comfortable young man who chooses to manipulate the status quo instead of challenging it, such as Melchior. Is interested in both men and women and aggressively goes after Ernst to satisfy his desires. Simulated masturbation is a part of this role. Baritone.
Ernst/Reinhold: Male, male identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. A sweet, and shy young gay man who is attracted to Hanschen, but too scared to make the first move. Tenor.
Georg/Dieter: Male, male identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. A funny and energetic young man that is in lust over his piano teacher, and open about his sexual desires. Tenor
Otto/Ulbrecht: Male, male identifying, or non-binary of any ethnicity. 14 years old. He is a shyer schoolmate who has a lustful dream about his mother. Tenor.
Adult Woman: Female or female identifying of any ethnicity. Older looking. All the adult female roles that range from a hateful principle, multiple mothers, a sexual piano teacher, and stern teacher. Comfortable playing many characters. Fewer singing skills are needed for this role.
Adult Man: Male or Male identifying of any ethnicity. Older looking. All the adult male roles that range from a hateful headmaster, multiple fathers, a preacher, stern teacher, and doctor. Comfortable playing many characters. Fewer singing skills are needed for this role.
