RON RICHLAND: Character is male (cis, trans or non-binary), late 30s to late 40s. Any ethnicity. Larry’s friend. A driver for a production company, and movie nerd. Ron once dreamed of becoming a Hollywood filmmaker and cameraman but gave up on his dream as a teenager. Warm, supportive, nerdy and laidback. Strong Baritone voice and able to rap.
MARGARET VAN DEUSEN (CAROL’S MOM): Character is female (cis, trans or non-binary), 50s-60s. Any ethnicity. A single parent who wants what is best for her daughter. Strong, wise, protective, cautious, disapproving, conscientious, and sensible. Pop Mezzo with a mature, soulful tone - G4 to strong E6 belt.
LARRY WALTERS: CAST seeking STANDBY: Character is male (cis, trans or non-binary), late 20s to late 30s. Any ethnicity. A driver for a TV company, and Vietnam veteran. Larry has always considered himself an outsider, but he is also proud, stubborn, and fiercely determined. He is an amateur inventor, nerdy and awkward, yet also hopeful and intense. A dreamer who wears his heart on his sleeve. Has an excellent rock tenor voice.
CAROL VAN DEUSEN: CAST seeking STANDBY: Character is female (cis, trans or non-binary), late 20s to late 30s. Any ethnicity. A secretary at a TV studio and lover of cats. Carol is a shy and cautious outsider who becomes more assertive and impulsive as she helps to make Larry’s flight a reality. She is protective, grounded, practical, kind, and extremely organized. Must be an excellent Pop/Rock Mezzo with a strong belt.
DAVID LETTERMAN/ENSEMBLE: Character is male (cis, trans or non-binary), 30s. Any ethnicity. A late-night talk show host on NBC. A big TV personality and a showman. Charismatic, confident, funny, sometimes at the expense of the guests on his show. Has an excellent rock/pop tenor voice and is confident with rap. An excellent dancer with proficiency in contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop styles.
JERRY FLECK (THE KID)/ENSEMBLE: Character can be male, female, or non-binary. To play ages 8 to 20s-40s. Any ethnicity. A young kid who witnesses Larry’s flight. An outsider. Energetic, enthusiastic, and naive. Has strong Rock/Pop vocals (G3 to strong Dflat5 belt) and is an excellent dancer with proficiency in contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop styles. NOTE: May understudy principal role(s). Non-Binary performers are encouraged to audition.
AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER/ENSEMBLE: Character can be male or non-binary, 20s-40s. Any ethnicity. Has strong Rock/Pop Tenor vocals and is an excellent dancer with proficiency in contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop styles. NOTE: May understudy the role of LARRY WALTERS.

Seeking strong triple threat performers - must have unique, interesting vocal styles and be confident with rock and pop.
