The Gold Strike Festival on Saturday, June 20 (11 AM - 8 PM) and Sunday, June 21 (11 AM - 6 PM) brings a great community celebration to the streets of Historic Olde Town Arvada. 159 years ago Lewis Ralston made the first documented discovery of Gold in Colorado. While the real “rush” for gold happened more than seven years later, Arvada puts on a great event to celebrate that first discovery.

The event, in its eighth year, will include many great opportunities for families, couples and groups of friends to spend the day and have a great time. Over 75 shops and restaurants now line the streets of Olde Town Arvada, and many will have sidewalk sales, special deals and fun activities in their stores.

The Gold Strike Festival will have a new layout which includes the Main Stage in McIlvoy Park allowing festival-goers to bring a blanket or a picnic and sit in the grass under beautiful trees and enjoy great music all day! In addition, a new juried arts and crafts component provided courtesy of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will also be in the park. Over 75 booth and food vendors will be on Upham and on 57th Avenue, and a second community/cultural stage will be in Olde Town Square at the corner of 57th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth. Free craft/activity stations will give families a way to enjoy time at the festival even on a small budget. Inflatables will also be available and affordable!

Entertainment lineup for the weekend includes 12 performances on the Main Stage and an additional nine performances on the Community Stage including daily performances by Radio Disney’s Road Crew. The Main Stage line-up for Saturday is O Tone Brass Band, Dotsero, Mollie
O’Brien and Rich Moore, the DeWayne Brothers, Greg Harris Vibe Quintet, The Trampolines and Lion Vibes. On Sunday we follow up with an equally hot lineup of The Saurus, Pete Lewis Band, Meniskus, Hazel Miller and Boulder Acoustic Society.

Other family friendly entertainment options includes an Ice Cream Social near the McIlvoy House, put on by the Arvada Historical Society, a transportation theme that includes a car display (11 AM - 3 PM each day), a Conestoga Wagon, a Pet and Kids Parade (Saturday), a booth by the Colorado Railroad Museum and more! And a Gold Strike Festival would not be complete without Gold Panning so look for that on site as well.

Sunday specific activities include the first Farmer’s Market of the Season in Olde Town Square and a Father’s Day Fun Bike Ride (starting at 9 AM and ending at the Festival).

Special thanks to our sponsors Bellco Credit Union, Downtown Toys and Games, Paws and Play, Radio Disney, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Yak and Yeti, AURA and AEDA.
