The Gold Strike Festival on Saturday, June 20 (11 AM - 8 PM) and Sunday, June 21 (11 AM - 6 PM) brings a great community celebration to the streets of Historic Olde Town Arvada. 159 years ago Lewis Ralston made the first documented discovery of Gold in Colorado. While the real “rush” for gold happened more than seven years later, Arvada puts on a great event to celebrate that first discovery.
The event, in its eighth year, will include many great opportunities for families, couples and groups of friends to spend the day and have a great time. Over 75 shops and restaurants now line the streets of Olde Town Arvada, and many will have sidewalk sales, special deals and fun activities in their stores. The Gold Strike Festival will have a new layout which includes the Main Stage in McIlvoy Park allowing festival-goers to bring a blanket or a picnic and sit in the grass under beautiful trees and enjoy great music all day! In addition, a new juried arts and crafts component provided courtesy of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will also be in the park. Over 75 booth and food vendors will be on Upham and on 57th Avenue, and a second community/cultural stage will be in Olde Town Square at the corner of 57th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth. Free craft/activity stations will give families a way to enjoy time at the festival even on a small budget. Inflatables will also be available and affordable!Photo taken from http://www.historicarvada.org/images/logo_sm.png.
