Debbie Allen is one of those arts types that simply doesn’t fit into one category. I think it is safe to say she is an all-around goddess of the arts. Her list of achievements includes being directed by Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins, directing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway, choreographing the Oscars, being an executive producer and actress on the long running Grey’s Anatomy, and running a dance academy that bears her name.
Company XIV's NUTCRACKER ROUGE Wins Goldstar National Nutcracker Award

Company XIV has won the 11th Annual Goldstar National Nutcracker Award, the only award which honors live performances of the seasonal classic. As winner of the audience-favorite competition, Company XIV takes home 'The Nutty' statuette, a cash prize for its education/accessibility programs, and is named the best-loved Nutcracker in the U.S. for 2017. This production competed in the largest field of nominees in the award's history -- it beat out over 85 other Nutcracker-themed productions for the win.

For one night only, October 7, 2017, six award-winning tap artists, connected through their Broadway background in Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk, reunite to celebrate their art form in the newly renovated Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Featuring D.C. natives Joseph Webb and Baakari Wilder along with Omar Edwards, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Derick K. Grant, and Jason Samuels Smith, this unique performance is choreographed to honor the roots of tap dance, their predecessors, and each other, all to live jazz music by the Lafayette Harris Jr. Quintet.
