Company XIV's NUTCRACKER ROUGE Wins Goldstar National Nutcracker Award

Company XIV has won the 11th Annual Goldstar National Nutcracker Award, the only award which honors live performances of the seasonal classic. As winner of the audience-favorite competition, Company XIV takes home "The Nutty" statuette, a cash prize for its education/accessibility programs, and is named the best-loved Nutcracker in the U.S. for 2017. This production competed in the largest field of nominees in the award's history -- it beat out over 85 other Nutcracker-themed productions for the win.

Dubbed "raucous and risque" by The New York Times and an "elegantly erotic holiday dance spectacle" by Broadway World, the acclaimed Nutcracker Rouge is a compelling 360-degree experience and a totally immersive version of the holiday show from award-winning creator McCormick and his gender-bending troupe Company XIV.

In 2006, Austin McCormick created Company XIV, wowing critics and audiences with a unique blend of circus, Baroque dance, ballet, opera, live music and lavish design. Recent credits include choreography for the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Canadian Opera Company, The Juilliard School, Guggenheim Works in Process, Carnegie Hall La Serenissima Festival, Gotham Chamber Opera and the Kennedy Center. Upcoming projects include choreography for Houston Grand Opera and Opera Columbus. This fall, Company XIV moved into their first permanent performance space in Brooklyn.

For 11 years, the Goldstar National Nutcracker Award has been the only nationwide award for live Nutcracker-themed performances, showcasing the astounding quality and variety of Nutcracker productions each year -- from classic ballet to hip-hop, burlesque and more. Created by live entertainment ticket seller Goldstar (www.goldstar.com) the competition is based solely on Goldstar purchasers' post-show ratings to rank Nutcracker productions in order of audience favorite.
