The Royal Ale Festival Highlights 2014 Scarborough Renaissance Festival This Weekend

Scarborough Renaissance Festival's 34th season is highlighted by the Royal Ale Festival today, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. The Royal Ale Festival will feature tastings of assorted beers along with appetizers and a variety of lively Scarborough entertainment for only $10 (in addition to admission to the festival) from 1-3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in Scarborough's scenic Crown Pavilion. Beer varieties will include 90 Shilling, Elissa IPA, Murphy's Red, Franconia Koelsch and others. Participants must be 21 to attend and tickets may be purchased in advance at www.srfestival.com or at the ticket office on Saturday or Sunday.

"The Royal Ale Festival is one of the most highly anticipated special events we host", says Coy Sevier, general manager of Scarborough Renaissance Festival. "In addition to the beer tastings, the Royal Ale Festival will include tasty appetizers for the patrons to enjoy as well as music from some of Scarborough's outstanding musicians and singers. Who knows, King Henry VIII might even make a special appearance as he continues his search for a new queen!"

Guest performers showcased at Scarborough Renaissance Festival this weekend are 'Sir Real - the Puppet Man,' 'Kamikaze Fireflies,' 'Christoph the Insulter' and 'Tortuga Twins.' Guest artisans will be 'Glass Dragon,' 'Gypsy Zoo' and 'Romulus & Remus.'

This week's daily wine tastings will feature wines from Australia. Wine tastings are $30 per person in addition to festival admission and may be purchased in advance online at www.srfestival.com. These tastings sell out fast, so get tickets now. Particpants must be 21 or older. There will be no daily beer tasting this weekend in lieu of the Royal Ale Festival.

The 34th Annual Scarborough Renaissance Festival is now open and runs every Saturday and Sunday rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. Scarborough Renaissance Festival is interactive fun for everyone 16th Century style with 21 stages, newly expanded Mermaid Lagoon, hundreds of costumed characters, 200 Shoppes, artisan demonstrations, Renaissance Rides, games of skill and food fit for a king!

Located in Waxahachie, Scarborough Renaissance Festival is just 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex on FM 66 off of I-35E at exit 399A. From Austin or Waco, follow I-35E north to Exit 399.

Admission is $24 for adults and $10 for children, ages 5-12. Children age 4 and under are admitted free. Parking is free compliments of Waxahachie Autoplex. Scarborough Renaissance Festival is interactive family fun - 16th century style! It's the thrill at the full combat jousts and falconry demonstrations, 21 stages of non-stop entertainment, hundreds of costumed performers and so much more. Guest can explore 200-plus shoppes and watch numerous artisan demonstrations.
