Books Alive! Literacy through the Arts leaps once again from the page to the stage by announcing its Fall 2009 production of, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, based on the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff. Books Alive! is a dynamic interactive program, which introduces children to the wonderful world of books, the joy of reading and stimulates a desire for lifelong literacy through a professional musical play, adapted from the featured book. It is available on location or as a field trip to Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC).

Last year Books Alive! entertained and taught thousands of children in Katy ISD, Houston ISD, Ronald McDonald House, Reach Out & Read, Head Start Centers, Title I schools, Boys & Girls Club of Houston, PTA's, and many private schools.

Books Alive! is already approved for Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) touring grants available to schools, libraries and non-profits. The grant application deadline is May 1, 2009. Applying for a TCA grant is simple and takes less than 3 minutes - the first step is to contact Kristin Miller, Books Alive! Coordinator at: 281-829-ARTS (2787).
