Here are the habits I want to implement and goals I want to achieve this semester.
When you’re in college, it’s important to have a solid routine. It takes time to develop, but eventually, it’s healthy for everyone to create habits and stick to a daily routine. As a returning college student, my first year was a lot of trial and error as I learned what did and didn’t work for me. Now, I am hopeful that I can improve my quality of life by implementing some new habits and goals.
First, I will discuss the new habits I want to incorporate into my routine. First, I am hoping to go to my school’s recreation center more frequently so I can start an exercise routine. Though walking around campus is a workout in itself, I also feel that I can improve my muscular capabilities. I never visit the gym at home, so I am hoping I can change that habit here at school. In addition to exercising my body, I also want to exercise my mind. I am hoping to incorporate reading into my daily routine, both for my academic studies and for my leisure. I used to be an avid reader when I was younger, but I unfortunately lost that habit when I was in high school. I would like to pick it up again because reading does give me joy: however, it’s been hard to find time. I am constantly bogged down by class, schoolwork, and my job, but I am hopeful that with careful planning, I can implement reading time into my routine.
Now, here are some of my goals. My first goal for this semester is to be more outgoing. I’m trying my best to make new friends and plan fun outings with them. On that note, I also want to travel more. Big vacations aside (though a trip abroad would be nice), I’d like to take more trips to places off campus with friends. Whether that’s to the nearby mall to see a movie, or even taking a day trip to popular destinations such as Boston or New York City, I want to explore my surroundings beyond campus more frequently. Finally, my last goal is to be more academically inclined. While I do well in school, there’s always room for improvement. I want to achieve this goal by implementing better study habits such as finding more study spots, studying for longer periods of time, and learning new methods of retaining information.
Overall, I have a lot of goals and expectations for myself this semester. While I believe my habits and goals are attainable, it’s important to remember not to be too critical of myself. Developing habits and achieving goals will take time, but it will be worthwhile in the end. I’ll have many more valuable experiences and learn a lot about myself, which will help me down the road as well.
