School is back in session at the University of New Haven. One week of classes is officially in the books as we look forward to the rest of the semester that lies ahead of us. In the theatre department, we are particularly excited to begin the process for our Fall Production of Thorton Wilder's Our Town which is the first show of this season. We have an exciting season lined up so far and more announcements to come!
Opening the season, Thorton Wilder's beloved classic Our Town will grace the Bucknall Theater's stage November 16th thru November 19th and will be directed by Jonathan Yukich. Winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize, this American classic follows the lives of Emily Webb and George Gibb from teens to newlyweds into adulthood. In fictional Grover's Corners, we meet the citizens and get a glance at their everyday lives.
December will bring performances from the Theater for Community Impact course members under the direction of Dr. Steve Luber. These performances will be created in the class amongst the students on a topic that will be determined at a later time.
Kicking off the Spring semester will be Jennifer Haley's thrilling sci-fi/crime drama about the underlying troubles of fantasy and technology. Directed by Jonathan Yukich, this futuristic adventure will take place the first weekend of March.
Last, but certainly not least, this Spring, the Theatre Department is proud to announce our musical will be the toe tapping satire of big business, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying [book by Abe Burrows, Jack Winestock, and Willie Gilbert; with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser]. Directed by Dr. Steve Luber, this Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical will be featured in April.
In addition to these shows, the UNH Theatre Club will also have events throughout the year.
