Due to popular demand, an additional date has been added for area children, ages 4 through 15, to audition for roles in an exciting co-production of The Nutcracker by Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts and Connecticut Ballet. Children’s auditions will be held at Jorgensen, 2132 Hillside Road, on the UConn campus in Storrs, on Saturday, September 26, according to the following schedule:
2:00-3:15 pm – Ages 4-5
2:45-4:00 pm – Ages 6-8
3:30-4:45 pm – Ages 9-11
4:00-5:30 pm – Ages 12-15 with little or no previous ballet training
4:30-6:00 pm – Ages 12-15 with 3+ years of ballet training
Pre-registration for auditions is required. Those children selected will join with Connecticut Ballet’s professional company of dancers in performing this full-length production on December 12 and 13 at Jorgensen. Prior dance experience is helpful, but not absolutely necessary for youngsters interested in performing in a truly professional ballet.
Rehearsals will take place at Miss Kelly’s Dance and Drama in Mansfield, on Wednesdays and/or Sundays beginning in early October. Children should arrive dressed in dance attire or comfortable clothing and be prepared to take a short ballet class. Details about the rehearsal and performance schedule will be available at the audition.
Don’t miss the chance to be a part of the excitement of performing in a full-length, professional ballet! For further information and to pre-register for an audition, please contact Jorgensen Administrative Assistant Kim Kablik by phone at (860) 486-4228 or by e-mail at
kim.kablik@uconn.edu no later than Wednesday, September 23.
