We’re seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Director of Marketing & Sales (DOMS) to lead marketing efforts for ARTECHOUSE’s multi-city locations (NYC, DC, Miami) with the goal of maximizing attendance and driving revenue.
The DOMS will manage a team of location-based Marketing Managers and a Group Sales Manager to ensure audience growth and successfully drive profit for ARTECHOUSE’s geographically-diverse art spaces by creating and executing effective sales-driven marketing plans — local advertising, public relations, communications, audience development, partnerships and community relations. This role reports to the Managing Director and will closely collaborate with the Chief Creative Officer, Director of Digital Strategy and external PR agencies to ensure success.
Additional responsibilities include setting and managing budgets, establishing ticket prices and subscription offerings, maintaining effective involvement with key community organizations, upholding key relationships with previous partners, and maintaining customer satisfaction as the driving philosophy of the business.
The ideal candidate will bring entrepreneurial ambition, an analytical mindset and a proven track-record of success driving sales and attendance to strategically promote ARTECHOUSE’s unique locations, seasonal programming and individual exhibitions, all while continually strengthening the connection between a diverse audience and the ARTECHOUSE mission.
WHO YOU ARE
-A proven leader with excellent communication skills, demonstrated management ability, and understanding of strategic and operational planning in complex environments
-8-10+ years of marketing and sales experience, including direct ticket sales and campaign management experience for an arts organization (theater or performing arts venue experience strongly preferred)
-3+ years experience in similar role
-Excellent communication, analytical, writing, team leadership, operations and interpersonal skills
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
-Plan, direct, and implement long-term and short-term marketing and sales efforts for all ARTECHOUSE locations and productions including at institutional, subscription, seasonal and single-ticket levels
-Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective verbal and written communication while overseeing rate, date and session commitments for ticket sales
-Lead negotiations, strategic placement and analysis for all advertising — direct mail, print, broadcast and digital. Collaborate with the Director, Digital Strategy on search and social advertising
-Project revenue and expenses, including management of the annual marketing budget
-Establish annual subscription and single ticket sales goals, and regularly monitor attendance to ensure that pricing and availability are in alignment with sales goals
-Ensure that regular sales reporting for all campaigns are distributed cross-departmentally informing all marketing and sales strategies
-Craft, execute, and build internal support for single ticket campaigns, including activity across all paid, owned, and earned media channels
-Maintain a centralized marketing and sales plan for use within the marketing team, and for communication to Executives and fellow Senior Staff
-Develop and implement audience development strategies, to continually ensure that ARTECHOUSE’s diverse season of programming is reaching an audience representative and inclusive of each location
-Ensure a consistent organizational brand across marketing and sales efforts, including through copywriting, editing, and proofreading all location based marketing collateral
-Collaborate with Director, Digital Strategy to develop and optimize sales-driven campaigns, ensure owned channels reflect local efforts and maximize opportunities for content creation
-Collaborate with internal departments to provide opportunities for campaign input where appropriate, particularly with production and curatorial departments
-Establish partnerships with community organizations, businesses, influencers and other stakeholders for ongoing cross-promotional collaboration
-Lead, supervise, and continually participate in the professional development of the marketing and sales team
-Travel to locations as needed to review sales/marketing/revenue strategies with location based teams
-Participate in long-range institutional planning as a pivotal member of the Senior Staff
CORE QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE
-Thrives in a fast-paced and complicated organization, and is able to effectively outline individual and team priorities in a fast-paced environment
-Experience in leading a sales team to drive consistent revenue growth
-7+ years driving marketing and sales strategy and execution
-Experience scaling marketing programs that drive repeatable results
-Experience regularly analyzing data to inform strategy and adapting as necessary
-Expertise in leading creative, design, content, communications, demand generation, product, and event marketing
-Solutions-oriented and comfortable leading cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
-Experience working in a customer-service oriented environment that serves the public
-Strong team player and ability to work with people of many different backgrounds and perspectives
-Excellent listening skills and ability to consider ideas of others
-Ability to work independently and organize effectively
-Instructs, trains, coaches and develops Managers to become highly proficient with the ability to develop others
-Creates an environment that fosters trust, dignity and respect, initiative, accountability
-Strong communication skills with ability to motivate employees and obtain positive results
-The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities
-Good organization, time-management, and problem solving skills
