Auditions for New Virtual Play - "The Diamond Peak Studio Sessions" - The Strides Collective

The Strides Collective, a Philadelphia-based theatre company that produces and develops work by emerging queer playwrights, is seeking submissions from non-AEA actors and actor/musicians for The Diamond Peak Studio Sessions, an original piece of virtual theatre written and directed by Jonathan Edmondson, to be presented online in June 2021.



Synopsis: Diamond Peak Studio in Oakridge, Oregon has produced some of the greatest pop music records of all time. Throughout 2019, five bands visit the studio to record their next albums, and their styles of music (ranging from bubblegum pop, to pop punk, to dream pop) are as different as their interpersonal struggles. And at Diamond Peak, the microphones never stop recording - capturing everything from guitar riffs and vocal runs, to bold confessions and sudden breakdowns. The Diamond Peak Studio Sessions chronicles the pressure, joy, and intimacy of creation - and examines how, for these bands, music and lyrics are only half the story.



We are seeking seven actors to fill various roles. While this is an audio play, there will be musical elements, so please share your musical talents with us! We are particularly looking for folks who sing and/or play guitar, bass, or drums. But if you don’t play an instrument or sing, that’s okay, too!



Rehearsals will begin in early April 2021 and will be built around actor availability. Actors may also be asked to attend a few pre-production meetings beginning in late February. All elements of the process (rehearsing, recording, etc.) will be done entirely virtually; at no point will the cast be asked to gather in-person. Because of this, we encourage actors from all over to submit - you do not need to be based in Philadelphia. However, all rehearsals will be scheduled on Eastern Standard Time. The show will be pre-recorded, not live. Actors will receive a small stipend at the end of the run.

If you are a musician, please also submit any samples/clips of you playing (i.e. links to YouTube videos, snippets of songs - anything that showcases your musical ability!).
