Beethoven's Fidelio, a powerful political thriller, will be presented at the Lyric Opera of Chicago from September 26 to October 10, 2024. Directed by Matthew Ozawa and conducted by Enrique Mazzola, this production marks the opera's return to the venue after 20 years. The story follows a woman, disguised as a man, who fights to rescue her wrongfully imprisoned husband, exploring themes of hope, love, and liberation. The opera will be performed in German with projected English titles, offering a thought-provoking experience for modern audiences.
