Karen Slack, the Lyric Unlimited Artist-in-Residence for the 2024/25 season, presents a three-part recital series at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, starting with Of Thee I Sing! Songs of Love and Justice on November 12. This program, featuring pianist Kamilla Arku and visual design by Angela Owens, includes works that emphasize themes of love and justice, highlighted by a setting of Langston Hughes's poem "The Kids Who Die." Following this recital, Slack will perform two more concerts that explore a rich tapestry of musical influences, each offering an opportunity for dialogue and engagement with the audience.
