Their members perform with some of the top orchestras in the United States, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Cleveland Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Their mission is to pay tribute to the great history of brass ensembles worldwide and to explore the finest new repertoire of the future. In May of 2024, 3rd Coast Brass officially debuted as a symphonic brass ensemble with a program featuring Gunther Schuller’s Symphony for Brass and Percussion and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, arranged by Elgar Howarth. This tribute to the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble celebrated Chamber Music on the Fox’s 10th Anniversary season as the season finale concerts. As a quintet, 3rd Coast Brass was the featured chamber ensemble at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the summer of 2012.
