HeadCheese Fat Boss Productions presents their ninth annual production of THE HIPMAS CAROL, an intimate and rhythmic retelling of Charles Dickens classic told through rhyming couplets, and illustrated musically by avant-garde improv/jazz electric guitarist Ritch Valadez. Playwright/actors Tyler Bohne and Patrick Zielinski play 26 characters and narrate the tale in a "Lord Buckley meets Dr. Seuss beat story scat," while never changing costumes or leaving the stage. THE HIPMAS CAROL runs about one hour with no intermission, and the original cast CD recording of the show is available for sale after performances. Ten percent of all ticket proceeds will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
THE HIPMAS CAROL opens Thursday, December 4, 2008, 8 p.m. (reception following) and runs Fridays at 8 p.m., and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. from December 5 through December 20, 2008.
The cast and crew include Tyler Bohne (Scrooge and others), Patrick Zielinski (all ghosts and Bob Cratchit), Ritch Valadez (jazz and blues guitar, and sound effects), Jacob Snodgrass (Lighting and Set Design), and Brian Loevner (Cast Creative Consultant).
THE HIPMAS CAROL will be performed at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts, West Town Theater, 777 N. Green St., Chicago, IL, 60622 (handicapped accessible). There is street parking and $8 lot parking. Public transportation is possible via Red Line Chicago/State stop; Brown Line Chicago/Franklin stop; Blue Line; Chicago/Milwaukee/Ogden stop; #66 Chicago and #8 Halsted buses.
Tickets are $25 for all regular performances (half-price rush tickets available), $20 for all groups of ten or more (contact Tami@grouptheatertix.com), $17 for children 12 and under, and seniors (with ID) and $12.50 (half price) on Saturday, 5 p.m. shows, for industry members (with ID).
