The League of Chicago Theatres announces the launch of ChicagoSpaces.org, a comprehensive, searchable database of performing arts venues and rehearsal facilities in Chicagoland. The website serves as a free, public and centralized resource connecting artists and performing arts organizations with rehearsal and performing arts facilities that are available for rental.
The database allows artists and performing arts organizations to save valuable time and money by more easily locating the ideal space for the next performance, rehearsal, reading, workshop, audition, class or special event. The database is searchable by location, rate, seating capacity, square footage, equipment, amenities and much more! More than 80 Chicago area venues are currently listed on the site, and facilities that are not listed are invited to add their information. There is no cost for facilities to list their spaces or to search the database.
"Finding suitable, affordable rehearsal or performance space can be a time-consuming, costly, and frustrating task," says Deb Clapp, Executive Director of the League of Chicago Theatres. "ChicagoSpaces.org helps save time and money and serves as a valuable resource for connecting both organizations and artists with their space needs."
ChicagoSpaces.org was developed with Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations.
The League of Chicago Theatres is an alliance of theaters that leverages its collective strength to promote, support and advocate for Chicago's theater industry locally, nationally and internationally. Currently, the League serves a diverse membership of more than 200 theaters and theater companies, ranging from small storefront, non-union companies to major cultural centers with multi-million dollar facilities and productions.
Fractured Atlas is a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations. Their programs and services facilitate the creation of art by offering vital support to the artists who produce it. They help artists and arts organizations function more effectively as businesses by providing access to funding, healthcare, education, and more, all in a context that honors their individuality and independent spirit. By nurturing today's talented but underrepresented voices, they hope to foster a dynamic and diverse cultural landscape of tomorrow.
