In one of the greatest of Greek comedies, Lysistrata recruits the women of Sparta, Boeotia and Corinth to end the Peloponnesian War. Their means of persuasion? Withholding sex. Aristophanes' astute theatricality and poetic wit, as timely today as when it was written, is brilliantly captured by the Rudall translation.Founding Director of Court Theatre at the University of Chicago, Rudall is widely known for his translations and adaptations, many of which are used by the world's leading theater companies.Videos
